On December 2, local time, the U.S. Department of Health in hawaii reported a case of infection with the new crown variant virus Omikejong strain, which was not vaccinated against covid-19.
The Hawaii State Department of Health said the patient was a resident from Oahu who had previously recovered from covid-19. The patient tested positive for COVID-19 on November 29, and on December 2, the Hawaii State Laboratory Department analyzed the patient's sample and confirmed that the patient was infected with the Omikejong strain.
The state's Department of Health further noted that the patient had no history of travel and that the Omilton strain may have been transmitted through the community, meaning that there were already other undetected Omil krong strains infected in Hawaii.
Currently, cases of the Ami kerong strain have been detected in California, Minnesota, Colorado, New York and Hawaii. (CCTV reporter Xu Dezhi)
