1 December 2021 is the 34th World AIDS Day, with the theme "Life First, Ending AIDS, Health Equality". On November 29, Li Dan, deputy secretary of the municipal party committee and mayor, led a team to the central district of the city to investigate the work of AIDS prevention and control, and comforted the frontline staff of AIDS prevention and treatment. Zhang Yong, vice mayor of the municipal government, Jiang Xuefei, secretary general of the municipal government, Ruan Luqiang, director of the municipal health commission, Luo Wenbin, director of the municipal center for disease control and prevention, and the responsible comrades of the municipal central district retransmission committee accompanied the investigation.
Mayor Li Dan and his party successively went to the People's Hospital of Shizhong District and the Yuxi Community Health Service Center of Shizhong District to conduct field research, inspected the AIDS Treatment Management Office of Shizhong District and the AIDS Treatment Point of Yuxi Community Health Service Center, listened to the introduction of AIDS prevention and treatment in Shizhong District, conducted in-depth investigations into the performance of duties by grass-roots governments, AIDS testing and discovery, follow-up management, and antiviral treatment, etc., to understand the current problems and difficulties in the city's AIDS prevention and treatment work.
Mayor Li Dan highly recognized and fully affirmed the AIDS prevention and control work in the whole city and the central district of the city, and put forward requirements for effectively doing a good job in the next step of AIDS prevention and treatment in the city: we must further improve our ideological understanding, deeply promote the city's AIDS prevention and treatment, effectively curb the momentum of the spread of the AIDS epidemic in the city, and safeguard the health of the people; we must give play to the leading role of the grass-roots government, increase the intensity of testing of key groups, and improve the pertinence of testing; we must care for AIDS patients and mobilize them to accept treatment and management. We must continue to increase the intensity of publicity, further enrich the form of publicity and education, popularize the knowledge of HIV prevention, and raise the awareness of the masses in the prevention of HIV/AIDS.
