Look for Eli's footprints in Shanghai

I have long wanted to walk in Shanghai to follow the footsteps of Eli in those years. In October this year, due to the outbreak of the epidemic in Shandan, I was trapped in Shanghai for more than a month, and I finally got my wish.

It was a Saturday, and I went out early in the morning to 4 Lane 1315, Yuyuan Road, which is a place that every Eli people are fascinated by.

My residence is in the Guoding Road Iron Village Community. Not far out of the community is the five corners field. I remember that there is a source that said that standing on the watchtower of the Hongkou Fire Fighting Society where Eli was working, you can see the five corners field. This is the most prosperous place in Yangpu District, the Shanghai center that the old Shanghai focused on, and it is also the place where Ai Li often comes. At Wujiaochang Subway Station, take Line 10 and quickly reach Yuyuan Garden. As soon as I stepped out of the car door and saw the big station name, I immediately realized that I was sitting on the wrong car, and the place I should go to was Yu Garden, not Yu Garden. Ask someone, and it's wrong. So I took a taxi decisively. From Yuyuan Garden, take a car, through the Yan'an Elevated Road on Renmin Road to Beijing West Road, about 40 minutes to arrive.

The car slowly traveled through Yuyuan Road, and I was attracted by the rich old Shanghai atmosphere of Yuyuan Road. Not on both sides of the wide road, tall French plane trees shade the sky, and well-preserved old bungalows are distributed on both sides. The roads are bustling with traffic, the sidewalks are crowded, and the mellowness and trend of history are perfectly staged here. At the beginning of the last century, this was once the French Concession and the public concession, and a merchant who was called "Prince Fujia" in Shanghai Beach built a private garden house near Jing'an Temple, named "Yu Zhai", and YuYuan Road was named after it. Since then, with the emergence of French plane trees, Western-style bungalows, and coffee bars, Yuyuan Road has become a gathering place for celebrities such as Western gentlemen and foreign compradors in the concession at that time. The construction of Yuyuan Road began in 1860 and took 58 years to take shape until the completion of the public concession in 1918. In the past hundred years, how many heroes and heroes have come to Shanghai and left stories here. And Yuyuan Road, with its important geographical location, has become a whirlpool in the whirlpool: it has both the footprints of the Red Revolution and the figure of the democracy movement. Many major historical events can be found in the footnote on Yuyuan Road. We admire the intriguing old buildings and lament how much history is carried in these large and small spaces? The attic window we swept by may be the desk or coffee table of some high-ranking official or scholar at the beginning of the last century. In those ever-changing times, how many major events were brewing and interpreted here. There are 198 old bungalows, 60 excellent historical buildings and immovable cultural relics, and 11 cultural relics protection units. Paramount, Qishan Village, Yongquan Fang, and Zhou Zuoren's former residence flashed in front of their eyes, and the Yuyuan Road Celebrity Memorial Hall, Liu Changsheng's Former Residence, and Wang Boqun's Former Residence Qian Xuesen's Former Residence passed by. As Lane 1315 approached, my heart beat harder, and I kept guessing how far it was from what it was doing and what I was looking like.

Suddenly, the car stopped in front of a neighborhood gate. The driver said: It's here! I was suddenly pulled back to reality. Get out of the car and see that the sign of Eli's former home hangs on the pale yellow wall of the community. Looking through the black wrought iron carved gate, I saw that the left hand cottage was a flower shop, the two rooms on the first floor of the right hand residential building had newly installed glass doors and floor-to-ceiling windows, the wall was decorated in dark green, the left wall had a white Eli head and louis Eli micro exhibition hall words, and on the right was "Yuyuan Renjia, Red Mark" Eight white and eye-catching characters. Eli's former residence actually built a micro-exhibition hall, which surprised me unexpectedly! The door was open, and there was an old comrade at the small round table at the door, apparently on duty. He offered to ask if he would visit. We couldn't wait to walk in and immediately get in touch with the statue of Eli in the exhibition hall. The first sense is: small and fine. This is a unique style of Shanghainese. In July this year, I accompanied the delegation of the province's patriotic education base to see a major assembly site and the national flag memorial hall, which were not large in appearance. Of course, this is also determined by the situation that Shanghai has little land and land is expensive, even like the Great Northwest, the village can not set up a rural memory exhibition hall for hundreds of square meters. This micro-exhibition hall is divided into two rooms inside and outside, which is about 40 square meters. Although the sparrow is small and complete, the small space actually accommodates a wealth of content, which is displayed in various forms such as multimedia, pictures, text, and physical objects. It is divided into "Walking into Lane 1315 of Yuyuan Road", "Louis Eli's Revolutionary Righteous Deeds in Lane 1315", "Louis Eli in China", "Louis Eli's 'Circle of Friends'", "What does Louis Eli leave us? "Five chapters. Back at the door, I found that thermometers, registers, and guestbooks were readily available, well-organized, and the cultural and creative products displayed were also very exquisite. I admire the seriousness and meticulousness of Shanghainese people, even at the street level.

After browsing the exhibition, I chatted with the old comrade on duty. He said his surname was Lu and was a volunteer duty officer in the community. He said that this exhibition hall was completed in June this year by the Changning District Huayang Road Street Exhibition, nearby residents spontaneously set up a volunteer team, everyone took turns on duty, and jointly maintained the daily order and site environment of the micro-exhibition hall. He said that in the past, Louis Eli was told under the nameplate at the entrance of Building 4 of the community, and now people who have a micro-exhibition hall to visit and learn can better understand Eli's deeds. He also said that he only knew about Eli's deeds, and to know more about it, he could scan the code. This gave me another unexpected surprise. Originally, in order to better carry out the study and education of party history, in conjunction with the important activities of Louis Eli in China, the major events corresponding to the history of the Communist Party of China in that year were sorted out, and a two-dimensional code was posted next to each year for visitors to scan the code to learn. I hurriedly said thank you and scanned the code. After talking to him, I looked into the neighborhood and saw the Eli House not far away, a place I had seen countless times in my photographs. I walked quickly. It was a three-storey residential building, which was no different from other residential buildings on the surface, and was obviously remodeled later, but it was still

It is the maximum preservation of the original style. Louis Eli's former residence, built in 1912, witnessed the red years of international friend Louis Eli in Shanghai. Louis Eli's former residence is a famous historical and cultural building in Shanghai, which is an English-style double-bay three-storey brick and wood structure, built in 1912, built in an east-west direction, open-air cement steps can go directly to the second-floor living room, the house is fully equipped, the ground floor reception room, restaurant, kitchen and other auxiliary rooms, the upper floor is the bedroom of Eli on the left, the middle is the reception room and a small workshop, built-in a lathe bed and some tools, the room is on the right side, the ground floor along the alley has a car garage, there is a small garden in front of the room. This is the most important time of Eli's life, and it is also the place where his career began.

While in Shanghai, Ai Li was the inspector general of the Industrial Section of the Bureau of the British Concession. He joined the first international Marxist study group in Shanghai and established contacts with the CCP. Because he was a foreigner serving in the Bureau of the Ministry of Works of the Concession and lived in a quiet place, the CCP organizations often used this place to carry out secret work. The Shanghai Party organization of the Communist Party of China once set up a small room on the top floor of the residence

Radio stations were set up to maintain communications with the Red Army, which was on the long march. His residence was also a joint location and refuge for CCP members. Smedley brought Chen Hansheng, an expert on international issues who had just arrived in Shanghai from Tokyo, to escape the raids of the concession authorities, and was later escorted by Eli to an ocean-going ship to get out of danger. Lu Xun's old friend the Japanese

Shikachi and his wife Sachiko Ikeda also lived in Eli's apartment to avoid being pursued by the Japanese police. To my surprise, Liu Ding, a representative of the CPC Central Committee who had served as a liaison with Zhang Xueliang during the Xi'an Incident and facilitated the second cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, stayed here for a long time. When it comes to Liu Ding, he is a big Dingding. I happened to see a feature film about him, known as a military wizard who can write and fight. In the 1930s, Liu Yingding worked at Shanghai Teco. Later, he was ordered to Xi'an to directly take charge of the telecommunications contact between the Northeast Army and the CPC Central Committee. It was he who first got in touch with Zhang Xueliang, who became the "big steward" of the CPC delegation after the Xi'an Incident, and Liu Ding lasted a year before and after the Xi'an Incident and experienced the entire process of the Xi'an Incident.

Mao Zedong said many times: "Comrade Liu Ding made a contribution to the Xi'an Incident. "He also made immortal merits on the hidden front. He once rescued Guan Xiangying and covered Qian Zhuangfei and Li Kenong. He is also the founder of China's military industry, serving as the director of the Military Industry Department of the Headquarters of the Eighth Route Army and the deputy director of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Military Industry Bureau. Later, in order to train technicians who could master and maintain equipment such as aircraft, tanks, armored vehicles, and automobiles, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China established the Central Revolutionary Military Commission Motorcycle School, and Liu Ding was appointed as the principal. In addition, Liu Ding was also appointed by Zhu De and Peng Dehuai to undertake new military production tasks. On the basis of in-depth investigation and study, he solved the problem of standardization and standardization of rifle production, realized mass production, and also developed grenadiers and shells that could compete with the Japanese army, realized the breakthrough of bullets from rearmament to self-manufacturing, and increased the output of bullets.

The combat effectiveness of the army has been improved. He also participated in the defense of Huangyadong and smashed the "sweep" of the Japanese army. Looking at this small building in the ordinary, who will remember how many heavyweights from

Where is it going to the stage of history?

Coming out of my former home, I did not take a car, and slowly walked on Yuyuan Road, feeling the mood of Eli when she walked on this street. Walking forward for more than ten meters, I saw the former site of the editorial office of the Bolsheviks. After the CCP organs moved from Wuhan to Shanghai, they decided to republish the Bolshevik periodical of the central organs after the "Guide", which restored dangdang

When the scene. The Former Residence of Liu Changsheng is the Shanghai Underground Organization Struggle History Exhibition Hall, which is one of the former sites of the secret organs of the Shanghai Bureau, and the residence of Comrade Liu Changsheng when he was engaged in underground revolutionary struggle in Shanghai from 1946 to 1949. The entire exhibition hall has a total of three floors of exhibition areas, and also collects many precious relics of Comrade Liu Changsheng. Along the way, I kept encountering the Hall of Fame and the Historic Former Residence, and although some of them did not go inside to visit, the admiration was difficult to forget. From the environment in which Eli lived, it can be imagined how full his heart was when Eli returned to his hometown after the end of World War I and was frustrated by running a farm. He lived with so many revolutionaries and cultural people with advanced ideas day and night, and he was full of ears and eyes, and he was like-minded, and it was only natural that he would embark on the glorious principle of supporting the cause of the Chinese revolution.

Of course, I know that the reason why Ai Li embarked on the revolutionary road is most inseparable because of a great Chinese woman, Song Qingling. It was still early, and we decided to go to the former residence of Song Qingling and continue to explore the road of Eli.

Reluctant to walk out of this culturally rich historical district, take Line 2 at Jing'an Temple Station, then transfer to Line 11, and arrive at your destination in a short time. Stepping out of the subway station is Huaihai Road, which is the former Xiafei Road, which is a well-known commercial avenue at home and abroad, comparable to the Champs Elysées in Paris, the Fifth Avenue in New York, and Ginza in Tokyo.

Walk along the street to Huaihai Middle Road, along the road there are Du Chongyuan's former residence and many other celebrity former residences, Shanghai's historical districts and celebrity former residences are very well protected, almost original.

Located at No. 1843 Middle Huaihai Road, the Song Qingling Former Residence Memorial Hall is inconspicuous, but there is a world inside. The former residence covers an area of more than 4300 square meters and is divided into a front garden, the main building and a back garden. The main building is a milky white boat-shaped fake three-storey Western-style building with a construction area of 700 square meters, the main building is a brick and wood structure of Western-style fake three-story building, built in the early 1920s, the ground floor is a living room, a dining room, a study, and a second

The building is Song Qingling's bedroom, office and nanny Li Yan'e's bedroom. There is a wide lawn in front of the building, and behind the building is a garden with flowers and trees, surrounded by centuries-old camphor, I know that Song Qingling has a special love for camphor trees, and it is indeed true.

The milky white building was originally a Private Villa of a German, but it is also said to be a Greek shipowner. From 1949 to 1963, Song Qingling worked and lived here for nearly 15 years, and was an important place for her to engage in state affairs, leaving behind many precious historical moments and a large number of cultural relics.

What impressed me the most was the white jade statue of Song Qingling standing in front of the cultural relics museum, Song Qingling sat on a rattan chair, her expression was so serene and dignified, her temperament was so graceful and elegant, and the beauty of oriental women was gathered in her body. This is one of the most beautiful sculptures I have ever seen, none. The cultural relics museum has more than 15,000 cultural relics of Soong Ching-ling, including photographs, correspondence, soong ching-ling's university graduation certificate, books, daily necessities, state event gifts, soong ching-ling's relatives' belongings, and Sun Yat-sen's seal carefully preserved by Soong Ching-ling through hardships. What impressed me was her graduation certificate, she passed the Qing government examination at the age of fourteen and became one of the first batch of students to study in the United States. In Song Qingling's former residence, there is a pigeon shed in front of the garage door, raising a group of pigeons, cooing and calling in the shed, and some pacing on the top of the shed. It is said to be the descendant of a pigeon that Song Qingling personally fed. Song Qingling has loved peace all her life, and these peace pigeons can be passed down from generation to generation, and they are perhaps the best comfort for her. In the carport were two cars, a Hongqi sedan produced in 1975 and a Jim sedan donated by the Soviet Union in 1952. The former residence is a small bungalow with red tiles and white walls, all the furnishings in it are the same, which looks very elegant and harmonious, especially the calligraphy and paintings she collected and purchased, showing the elegant taste of the hostess. Here, extrapolating from time, there is no intersection with Eli. But from pictures and objects, I fully understood the great and tortuous history of Soong Ching-ling in Shanghai, felt the unique charm contained in Soong Ching-ling, a great Chinese woman, and experienced the broad and tenacious fighting spirit of a democratic revolutionary. Soong Ching Ling, as the wife of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the pioneer of China's democratic revolution, coupled with her self-generated personality charm, has a very great influence. It was the privilege of getting acquainted with her and getting her full support that led to his immortal exploits for the dawn of new China. It can be said that Song Qingling is the source of strength for Eli's great cause! From 1933 when he was introduced by Smedley at the Sun Yat-sen Mansion at 29 Moliai Road, to 1934 when Soong Ching-ling supported him and a few foreign friends to set up a Marxist study group, and then asked him to found "The Voice of China" and founded the International Industrial Union, behind each initiative, there was soong Ching-ling's obscure support. Without Song Qingling's support, Eli's career would definitely be a different direction. I am excited to find the power of Eli who has made a great contribution in China. I stood silently in front of the white jade statue of Song Qingling and bowed deeply, and I couldn't bear to leave for a long time. Although I walked out of the former residence of Soong Ching Ling at the urging of the staff, I did not go far, and I walked through the corridor under the Wukang Building that radiated the light of the 1920s and 1930s to savor the long time. That night, I fell asleep early for the first time in the rented house. It's not just that I get up early, walk a lot and get tired on this day, I feel more tired and more rewarding.

Second, I scanned the code and rode a shared bicycle, went to the Hongkou Fire Fighting Club and the Hongkou Fire Squadron, and experienced and felt the mood of Ai Li when she first arrived in Shanghai. The three-story brick and wood building of the Hongkou Fire Fighting Society, which was built in 1917, was still standing, and when I cycled around the corner from the entrance of the Shanghai First People's Hospital, it suddenly appeared in front of me. After the establishment of the Hongkou Fire Brigade, it changed its site four times and finally settled at No. 560 Wusong Road in Shanghai in 1915. The building of the Hongkou Fire Brigade was designed in the early French architectural design with continental European style. The main building is a three-story building with a reinforced concrete structure, the central part of the ground floor is a fire garage, the garage floor is paved with teak bricks, the walls are tiled, and the two sides are various activity rooms; the middle of the second floor is the office, on both sides is the firefighters' dormitory; the third floor is the cadre's family dormitory, and the clothes are dried in the corridor. In the center of the roof stands a five-story watchtower about 20 meters high. The whole building from the air is a bird's-eye view of a soaring peace dove, which is typical of the architectural style of foreign fire brigades. In 1991, the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Fire Department was changed to the Shanghai Municipal Fire Bureau. The full name of the Hongkou Fire Brigade became the "Hongkou Fire Squadron of the Fifth Detachment of the Shanghai Fire Brigade of the Armed Police". The Hongkou Fire Brigade has not only cultivated a group of leading cadres, but also cultivated a group of fire experts. As one of the first two modern fire brigades in China, the Hongkou Fire Brigade has kept pace with the times and contributed to the protection of the lives and property of the people of Shanghai. This is perhaps Doeli's best consolation. Walking into the Hongkou Fire Brigade History Exhibition Room, you can see a series of firefighting cultural relics, a series of yellowed photos, which tell people a detailed story of the Hongkou Fire Brigade from Eli to the latecomers in a century and a half.

After taking photos, I rode to the Hongkou Fire Squadron on Quyang Road. Found No. 300, which has been turned into a residential area. The owner of The 292 tobacco and liquor store said the squadron had been moving away for several years. I navigated to Kunming Road again and found Hongkou Fire Rescue

detachment. Firefighters were on duty in the gatehouse again. He told me that it had been here for three or four years, and he didn't know where it was before. I asked him about Eli, and he immediately became interested and talked a lot. Although I was told not to go in, I was still very happy, and I knew from my communication with this firefighter that Eli had always been part of their detachment

Setting an example and learning from the spirit of Eli is a tradition in the team. I didn't insist on going in anymore, after all, There was an outbreak in Shandan. I bid farewell to the young firefighters and happily returned home, and the Sixteen Shops Pier, which was originally planned to go, was also temporarily cancelled. Because I have seen that the spirit of Eli continues to be passed on in the international metropolis of Shanghai, as a full-time researcher and promoter of the Eli spirit, I should be pleased.
