The University of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences settled in Suzhou, how did the "Guozitou" University be robbed by Suzhou?

On the 22nd, the Suzhou Municipal Government signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, and the University of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences signed a contract to settle in Wuzhong District, Suzhou. It is the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, where Tu Youyou, china's first Nobel Laureate in Medicine, is located, which has established a university in Suzhou.

It's both reasonable and unexpected.

In December 2020, the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, it was proposed to build a "national character" Traditional Chinese Medicine College, tentatively named the University of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. On August 31, 2020, the Ministry of Education issued regulations to regulate the naming of colleges and universities across the country, and the word "China" cannot be easily used in the names of colleges and universities. Judging from public reports, at least Shandong, Zhejiang and other provinces and cities have joined the battle for universities of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.

How did Suzhou "grab" the University of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences?

Judging from the information released, the site of the University of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences is located in Wuzhong Linhu Lake, Suzhou, near Taihu Lake. Taihu Lake is the best place, the most beautiful in Wuzhong, Suzhou has three-quarters of the Waters of Taihu Lake, and it is naturally good to run a university in such a good environment. But just a good environment, far from being a key factor in the final decision-making, what can impress the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences more is probably the culture and resources of Traditional Chinese medicine in Suzhou.

Suzhou has always been famous doctors, and the Wumen medical school has long been famous, and it is said that "Wu Traditional Chinese Medicine is the world". With "many doctors, many writings, and the theory of Wen Disease advocating Wu Medicine", the Wumen Medical School occupies an important position in the history of Chinese medicine. According to the "Records of Famous Doctors in Wuzhong", there are more than 1,200 physicians in Suzhou and more than 500 works. In 1982, the Ministry of Health launched the planning of the collation and publication of ancient books of traditional Chinese medicine, and among the 592 kinds of books listed, there were 58 ancient books of Wu medicine, accounting for nearly one-tenth.

Suzhou traditional Chinese medicine can be traced back to the Spring and Autumn Warring States period, Ge Hong's "Biography of the Immortals" records that shen xi, a Wu person in the Zhou Dynasty, learned the Tao in Shuzhong, refined Dan pills, and often had miraculous effects on treating people. By the Yuan Dynasty, Suzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine had begun to take shape, and when Marco Polo's Travels wrote about what he saw in Suzhou, he spent about half of the time describing Suzhou medicine. At the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, there were several epidemics of infectious diseases in Jiangnan, and the traditional typhoid treatment method had little effect. Wu Yousheng, a famous doctor in Wu County, deduced the source of the disease, put forward the "theory of qi", and wrote a book called "On the Epidemic of Temperature". In Suzhou of the Qing Dynasty, a number of medical masters such as Ye Tianshi and Xue Shengbai emerged. In particular, Ye Tianshi may be called the most famous doctor in the history of Suzhou, and the people of Suzhou call him "Heavenly Doctor Star Under the Heavenly Doctor". The Draft History of the Qing Dynasty records that Ye Tianshi "understood the divine understanding and implemented ancient and modern medical techniques." At that time, Suzhou's "traditional Chinese medicine industry" was also booming, and Chinese medicine stores such as Lei Yun Shang Xiang Fen Tang, Mu Tai Shan Tang, and Ning Yuan Tang had become quite famous, of which Lei Yun Shang Shu Fen Tang was the most prestigious. What really made "Wu Doctor" spread around the world was Tang Dalie, a famous doctor in Suzhou during the Qing Dynasty and Qianjia, who compiled the medical theories of 31 doctors in Suzhou into "Wu YiHui Lectures", and "Wu Doctor" was famous all over the world.

After the founding of New China, Wumen doctors sent doctors to teach apprentices, establish schools, and run periodicals and books regardless of the portal. Inheriting and developing Traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine hospitals and Chinese medicine schools are important carriers. In 1953, Suzhou established the Joint Clinic of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in 1958, Suzhou founded the Suzhou College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and in the same year, Suzhou Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine was established. In 1991, Wang Dada of Suzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and Zheng Shaoxian of Kunshan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital were selected as the first batch of old Chinese medicine experts in China. In 1995, the Suzhou Municipal Government formulated the Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Suzhou and established the Fund for the Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2002, Suzhou founded the "Suzhou Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine". In 2013, Suzhou established a specialized institution for the study of Wumen Medical School, Suzhou Wumen Medical School Research Institute. In 2017, Suzhou issued the "Suzhou Inheritance and Development of Wumen Medical School Characteristics Implementation Plan". In a consultation room of Kunshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, often crowded with patients, the attending physician is mr. Zheng Tianru, who is the 29th generation of Suzhou Zheng's gynecology, since the Song Dynasty, the Zheng family is famous for traditional Chinese medicine gynecology, and a pulse of incense has been passed down to today for more than 800 years.

Today's Suzhou is building a world-class biomedical industry landmark, and is expected to become an influential and competitive "China Medicine Valley". In the "Implementation Plan for Building a Landmark in Suzhou's Biomedical and Health Industry (2020-2030)", modern Chinese medicine and biological medicine are listed in the main direction of Suzhou biomedicine. Today's Suzhou, there are 9 traditional Chinese medicine hospitals, 4 integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine hospitals, including 5 tertiary traditional Chinese medicine hospitals, and all county-level traditional Chinese medicine hospitals have reached the third level B. There are 20 traditional Chinese medicine tablets and traditional Chinese medicine preparation enterprises in Suzhou, with an annual output value of nearly 10 billion yuan, including many leading enterprises such as Lei Yunshang and Li Liangji.

However, the scale of Suzhou's traditional Chinese medicine industry is small, the core competitiveness is not strong enough, and the shortage of talents is the number one problem facing the development of traditional Chinese medicine in Suzhou. Suzhou has a large number of traditional Chinese medicine resources, Suzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital alone has a collection of more than 10,000 volumes of ancient Books of Wu Medicine, of which a large number of prescriptions and classic recipes have been precipitated. However, these TCM resources have not been fully transformed into real value, how to better protect the resources that have realized the value, relying on the strength of the Suzhou family, a little small horse-drawn cart. For example, after the Rokujin Maru on Lei Yun was "pirated" in Japan, he developed the Heart Saving Pill, with annual sales of hundreds of millions of DOLLARs, much higher than the Rokujin Maru "Buddha-figure". To put it more, Chinese medicine is called "Kampo" in Japan, and there are more than 200 Kampo factories and more than 2,000 kinds of preparations in Japan. According to research, globally, Japanese Kampo accounts for 90% of the Chinese medicine market. According to the data released by the World Patent Database, of the 10,943 ancient Chinese medicine prescriptions provided by China, only 0.3% of them applied for international patents, while Japanese Kampo medicine monopolized more than 70% of Chinese medicine patents, and 80% of Japanese Kampo medicinal materials were imported from China.

From this point of view, the landing of the University of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in Suzhou does not only mean that There is one more university in Suzhou. In the future, it is very likely that through the carrier of the University of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, Suzhou's rich traditional Chinese medicine resources will be innovatively integrated and marketed.

The significance is not limited to Suzhou, but also in the Yangtze River Delta. Huang Luqi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, said that it will build the University of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences into a research university with distinctive characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine, a first-class national and world-famous research university, bringing top scientific research, academic platforms and medical teaching resources in the traditional Chinese medicine industry to Suzhou, and helping Suzhou become an important base for the reform and development of traditional Chinese medicine in Jiangsu and even the Yangtze River Delta region and the whole country. At the signing ceremony, Xu Jianguang, President of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Cheng Chun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, attended and delivered speeches. In 2020, the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly launched the "Tu Youyou Class" of Chinese Medicine, and jointly established the "Tu Youyou Class" of the 9-year major of Traditional Chinese Medicine with Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
