Shanxi University is located in Taiyuan City, the capital of Shanxi Province, the ancient cultural capital with a history of more than 2,500 years, the school was formerly known as Shanxi University Hall, founded in 1902, and in 2005, it became a provincial and ministerial joint university jointly built by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education.
