To celebrate Rossi's great contribution to motorcycle racing and his legendary career in MotoGP racing, Yamaha Europe has produced a special R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute to Rossi's highest tribute.
The R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute is based on the commercially available version of the YZF-R1 GYTR track, and in addition to having many competitive modifications developed by the GYTR division, it also incorporates a number of racing technologies from WSBK events, making this car "under one car (YZR-M1), above ten thousand cars (all Yamahas)".
The R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute features a full-car carbon fiber fairing and an all-carbon fiber composite subframe, all designed to be lightweight. In terms of livery, Yamaha commissioned Aldo Drudi, Rossi's helmet-exclusive master painter and friend, to design the exterior livery of the car.
