In this warm sunshine and the expectations of the students, we ushered in the first scientific practice activity, the title of this activity is "The Bridge of the Sandbar, the Bridge of the Hometown". The main thing is to understand the construction of the bridge in the hometown and to understand the touching story of each bridge and the meaning of the name of each bridge. How new and exciting it was for me, a teenager who didn't know anything about science, and I believe that the mood of other students was the same as mine.
At 3:00 p.m., all the members of the science and technology practice group of our school, led by two science teachers, gathered momentum at the school gate. Look, one by one, how happy they are!
The first bridge visited was the nearest bridge to our school, the Concentric Bridge. Don't look at the "Concentric Bridge" is an ordinary arch bridge, its story shocked the hearts of many people: once here was a bridge made of wooden planks, and suddenly one day a flood broke down the plank bridge. In order for the villagers to cross the river safely, three local women jumped into the water at this moment of crisis to rejoin the planks that had been washed away by the flood and were swept away by the relentless flood. In order to commemorate them, the villagers named it "Tongxin Bridge", which means that "all people will be able to overcome the disaster with one heart".
Next up is a "Wangjun Bridge" covered with bluestone bricks. The bridge deck is arched, which is designed to facilitate the flow of floodwaters. The name of the bridge comes from the fact that in 1984, when Luo Kaifu, a reporter for the Economic Daily, was re-walking on the Long March Road, he listened to the 82-year-old Xu Xiexiu tearfully tell the story of half a quilt before it was unraveled. It is said that the old man Xu Xiexiu has been looking at the bridge into the distance, just to wait for the three female Red Army soldiers who gave them half a quilt, so they named it "Wangjun Bridge".
As we walked, we came to the most famous bridge on the sandbar, the Red Army Bridge. The "Red Army Bridge" is a suspension bridge, and its construction is much more complicated than the previous two. The main structure of the bridge is a tower, main girder, anchoring, suspension cable and so on. It was completed in 2018, and because there are too many bridge technologies involved, it looks particularly beautiful and magnificent. This bridge has two names, "Red Army Bridge" and "Fuxing Bridge", and the reason why it is called "Red Army Bridge" is because it has the footprints of the Red Army's Long March; it is called "Fuxing Bridge" because we always remember the spirit of the Red Army's 25,000-mile Long March and is the driving force for realizing China's great rejuvenation.
In this way, we followed the science teacher to know the six bridges. Behind each bridge is its own powerful story, with an immortal spirit passed down from generation to generation. In this scientific and technological practice activity, we learned about the construction of different bridges and bridge design techniques. But this is far from enough, we must study scientific and cultural knowledge, understand the regional cultural heritage, and contribute our strength to the country and society!
