Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a video meeting with Hungarian Foreign Minister Siardo on 25 July. In his speech, he made clear his solemn stand on the so-called "democracy summit" recently planned by the United States.

The United States will hold the so-called "democracy summit" in December, and released the so-called "list of invited participants" on the evening of the 23rd local time, and "Taiwan" is prominently listed. Many media have noted that China and Russia are not invited by the United States, while Hungary, which maintains good relations with China and Russia, is the only EU member state excluded from the event. Sun Keqin, a researcher at the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, told the Global Times reporter on the 26th that from the perspective of the so-called "guests" of the summit, this is obviously an incident of ganging and creating divisions.
Wang Yi said in a video meeting with Siyaldo on the 25th that the US side is essentially doing anti-democratic things under the banner of democracy. The US move has caused many countries to doubt and even dissatisfaction.
Wang Yi said democracy should not be "privatized." Democracy is the right of peoples, not the self-interest of a few. In the final analysis, whether a country is democratic or not should be judged by the people of that country, not by a foreign country. If the United States only judges which countries are democratic and which countries are not democratic according to its own likes and dislikes, it is actually engaging in solipsism and creating divisions in the world, which in itself is not democracy.
Wang Yi stressed that democracy should not be "labeled." How to achieve democracy should be specifically promoted and practiced by each country in accordance with its own national conditions and the needs of its people. Democracy should be measured by whether it meets the needs of its own people and whether it has sufficient sense of participation, satisfaction and gain of its own people. Instead of the United States issuing a questionnaire, each country answering the questions, and the United States scoring. If countries can only measure the quality of their own democracy according to the scale of the United States, it is actually a betrayal of the spirit of democracy, let alone true democracy.
Wang Yi said democracy cannot be "politicized." In the name of democracy, interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, infringing on the sovereignty of other countries and serving their own political objectives is even more disgraceful and must be rejected and opposed. The US side's claim that it does not support "Taiwan independence" but its grandeur in providing an international stage for the "Taiwan independence" forces can only prove that its words are not trustworthy. Taiwan is part of China's sacred territory and is not a pawn that the United States can use. Democracy is a common value pursued by all countries, not a political tool arbitrarily manipulated by the United States.
Wang Yi stressed that the world needs unity, not division; it needs cooperation, not confrontation. In particular, the great powers need to play an exemplary role in this regard, rather than as a negative teacher.
The so-called "democratic summit" run by the United States is regarded as having sinister intentions to divide the world. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zakharova said on the 25th, "In the name of promoting democracy, the United States is organizing a club of stinky people to fight against countries that maintain strategic independence in the face of the West." Against the backdrop of the problematic democratic and human rights situation in the United States itself, such a summit looks shameful and pathetic. The summit is confrontational and divisive and will exacerbate international tensions. At this critical stage in the development of the world, those interested in democratizing international relations and forming a multipolar world should not cater to Washington's ambitions. ”
