Moore Thread announced the successful development of the first domestic full-featured GPU

On November 25, Moore Thread announced that it had completed the A round of 2 billion financing and announced that the first domestic full-featured GPU chip had been successfully developed.

Moore Thread was established in October 2020 with the goal of developing the world's leading independent innovation intellectual property GPU and building a computing platform in the field of visual computing and artificial intelligence. Moore Thread completed three rounds of financing in one year, and in February 2021, it just completed a financing jointly led by Shenzhen Venture Capital, Sequoia Capital China Fund and GGV Jiyuan Capital.

The A round of 2 billion financing was jointly led by Shanghai Guosheng Capital, Wuyuan Capital and Bohai Zhongsheng Fund under BOCI, and nine institutions, including CCB International, Qianhai Fund of Funds, China Merchants Securities and Hubei High-quality Development Industry Fund. The funds raised will focus on the mass production and manufacturing of the first GPU chip, the IP research and development associated with GPU SoCs, and the expansion of the domestic GPU ecosystem.

In addition, Moore Thread announced that it took 300 days to complete the research and development of the first domestic full-featured GPU, which "built-in self-developed 3D graphics computing core, AI training and inference computing core, high-performance parallel computing core, ultra-high-definition video codec computing and other cores".

According to the official press release, Moore Thread's GPU has begun to adapt to the domestic mainstream CPU and operating system, and has established cooperative relations with hundreds of ecological partners.

In addition to the familiar NVIDIA and AMD, there are actually many GPU-related companies in China. In addition to the Moore thread, there are also Shanghai's Muxi, Denglin Technology, Biling Technology and Tianshu Zhixin, Wuhan's Xindong Technology, Xi'an Xintong Semiconductor, as well as the old Zhaoxin, Changsha Jingjiawei and many other companies.
