In the first year of the Guangqi Dynasty (885), less than a year after the defeat of Huang Chao, his old subordinate Qin Zongquan declared himself emperor at Cai Prefecture and openly opposed the Tang. Qin Zongquan's strength and strategy were far inferior to Huang Chao's, and Huang Chao was defeated and killed by the Tang army. Why was Qin Zongquan able to quickly sweep through the entire Central Plains after Huang Chao's death, making the Tang army afraid, and openly claiming the title of emperor, the captain told you in detail.

First, occupy Caizhou

Qin Zongquan

Qin Zongquan joined the army in his early years, serving as a general of Xu Prefecture and serving as a subordinate of Xue Neng , the emissary of Chen Xu Jiedushi ( also known as the Jiedushi of the Zhongwu Army ) . In the first year of guangming (880), Huang Chao harassed Huaisi, and Xue Neng sent Qin Zongquan to Cai Prefecture to recruit troops to resist the Qi army. Soon after a mutiny occurred in Xuzhou, the general Zhou Qian killed Jiedu so that Xue Neng could replace him, claiming to be Chen XuJiedushi. Qin Zongquan pretended to avenge Xue Neng, and then led an army to expel Cai Prefecture and occupy Cai Prefecture.

Emperor Tang

The Tang Dynasty, forced by the great threat of Huang Chao, had to recognize Zhou Qian as An envoy of Chen Xujiedu. In order to win qin Zongquan against Huang Chao, Zhou Qian recognized him as the assassin of Cai Prefecture. In the first year of Zhonghe (881), Huang Chao occupied Chang'an, frightening Emperor Tang into fleeing to Shu. Qin Zongquan then joined forces with Yang Fuguang, the overseer of the Zhongwu Army, to defeat the Qi army at Ruzhou and was promoted to the post of envoy of the Fengguo Army.

Second, surrender to the Yellow Nest

The late Tang Dynasty people's rebellion

In the third year of Zhonghe (883), Huang Chao withdrew from Chang'an and fled all the way to Caizhou. Qin Zongquan lost the battle with Huang Chao, so Kaesong surrendered, still serving as an envoy to Jiedu. Qin Zongquan then attacked Chen Prefecture with Huang Chao, burning and plundering the land of Liang and Song. In the fourth year of Zhonghe (884), Huang Chaobing committed suicide in defeat, and Qin Zongquan's ambitions were extremely inflated, and he had delusions of plotting against the world.

Yellow Nest

Qin Zongquan first recruited the remnants of Huang Chao to expand his strength, and then sent troops to expand everywhere to expand his territory. Qin Zongyan led an army to attack Jingnan, Qin Yu led an army to attack Xiangzhou and Dongdu; Qin Yan led an army to attack Jianghuai; Qin Xian led an army to attack Jiangnan, and Qin Zongheng led an army to attack Yuezhou and Ezhou. Qin Zongquan's troops were very ferocious, wantonly burning and plundering in the Central Plains, and even using human flesh as military food, so that there were no people for thousands of miles. Many areas of the Central Plains became no-man's land, and only the Xuanwu Army saved a few areas controlled by Zhu Wen.

Third, call the emperor a rebel

Zhu Wen

In the first year of the Guangqi Dynasty (885), Qin Zongquan was proclaimed emperor at Cai Prefecture and the state name was Daqi, in order to show that he would inherit the legal system of Huangchao. Emperor Tang was furious, so he ordered Zhu Wen to attack Emperor Qin. However, Zhu Wen was afraid of Emperor Qin's great power, so he privately sent people to ask the Qi general Qin Xian, who attacked Song Cao's erzhou, to make peace. Qin Xian then sent Zhang Jiao to negotiate peace with Zhu Wen, agreeing that the two sides would be bounded by the fenshui river, with Zhu Wen to the north and Qin Zongquan to the south. However, Qin Xian was impatient, and before Zhang could return, he crossed the water and burned and plundered on the north bank. Zhu Wen was furious, so he beheaded Zhang Qi and wanted to seek revenge on Qi Jun.

Zhu Wen led his army south to attack Qin Zongquan, and repeatedly defeated the Qi army. In the second year of Guangqi (886), Chen Xujiedu sent Lu Yanhong under siege by Qin Zongquan, so he asked Zhu Wen for help. But before Zhu Wen could send an army, Qin Zongquan conquered Xuzhou and killed Lu Yanhong. Subsequently, Qin Zongquan led an army north to attack Zhu Wen, conquering Zhengzhou and Heyang along the way. Zhu Wen then garrisoned sour dates and confronted Qin Zongquan. Emperor Qin sent Lu Yao to build a bridge at Beishui to prepare to cross it. Zhu Wen then killed Lu Yao and repelled the Qi army.

Phan Town

In the third year of Guangqi (887), Qin Zongquan led an army of 150,000 people to attack Zhu Wen in the north, hoping to destroy it in one fell swoop. Zhu Wen was very frightened by this, so he asked Zhu Xuan, the Emissary of the Tianping Army, and Zhu Jin of the Taining Army. Zhu Xuan and Zhu Jin then led an army to the rescue, and together with Zhu Wen defeated the Qi army outside the city of Bianzhou. Qin Zongquan fled in defeat, setting fire to houses along the way, forcing the people to flee with him. Zhu Wen took advantage of the victory and took control of most of the Central Plains.

Fourth, the soldiers were defeated and killed

Tang dynasty

Zhu Wen, Zhu Xuan, and Zhu Jin were all brothers with the same surname, and then the three of them divided their troops into five ways to fight against Qin Zongquan. Qin Zongquan then hurriedly ordered his brother Qin Zongheng to return to the rescue, but he was killed by his subordinate Sun Ru, and Qin Zongquan had to retreat to Cai Prefecture. Zhu Wen camped outside Caizhou City, and repeatedly sent the old, weak, sick and disabled to call for battle, which led to the Killing of the Qi army. Zhu Wenjiu attacked Cai Prefecture for a long time, and seeing that Qin Zongquan was seriously injured and could not pose a threat to himself, he left the general Hu Yuanchun to continue to besiege the city and defeat the Banshi himself. As a result, Hu Yuanqun was not prepared for the enemy and was killed by Qin Zongquan.

In the first year of the Dragon Age (889), Shen Cong, a close confidant of Qin Zongquan, saw that Qin Zongquan's power was gone, and wanted to defect to the Tang Dynasty in order to become rich. So Shen Cong captured Qin Zongquan and wounded one of his legs and handed it to Zhu Wen. Zhu Wen then appointed Shen Cong as an envoy to the Fengguo Army. Shen Cong originally thought that he could serve as an envoy of the Fengguo Army, so he was a little disappointed in this and regretted capturing Qin Zongquan. Zhu Wen learned of this, so he immediately executed Shen Cong.

Tang Zhaozong

Zhu Wen smiled and said to Qin Zongquan, "If you could have allied with me before and worked together as a king, how could you have today?" He then replied, "There is no room for two tigers in a mountain, but Heaven will not help you." Zhu Wen then escorted Qin Zongquan to Chang'an and handed it over to Tang Zhaozong for handling. Tang Zhaozong then ordered Jing Zhaoyin Sun to escort Qin Zongquan through the streets for the people to watch. Qin Zongquan then shouted, "Am I a rebel?" It's just that loyalty doesn't work. The people around them laughed and watched Qin Zongquan being executed.

In general, Qin Zongquan was a warlord and tyrant of the late Tang Dynasty, dividing the area around Caizhou. After Huang Chao's defeat, the two main forces of the Tang army (Zhu Wen and Li Keyong) who destroyed him quickly turned against each other and attacked and killed each other, making the Tang army powerless to eliminate Qin Zongquan. Qin Zongquan took advantage of the opportunity to take over the remnants of Huang Chao, greatly increased his strength, and ran rampant in the Central Plains, so his ambitions were even more inflated, and he openly claimed the title of emperor and opposed the Tang Dynasty. In the end, Qin Zongquan was executed for the Tang Dynasty because of his cruelty and unkindness, and his evil retribution was evil.
