Several government departments and private companies have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) to kick-start the programme' operations, including DFF, DCAA, Dubai Silicon Valley Oasis Authority (DSOA), Fakeeh University Hospital, Majid Al Futtaim and Emirates Cargo.
The main goal of the program is to explore the application of drones in a number of areas such as health, safety, shipping and food to reduce carbon emissions generated by traditional shipping methods, in addition to creating new jobs and stimulating economic activity in related fields, the program aims to attract high-end talent, domestic and international funds to invest in drone applications.
The DFF will oversee the implementation of the program through the Dubai Future Lab, the first applied R&D lab in the region dedicated to future technologies, and Dubai Silicon Valley Oasis, which will allocate a pilot area for domestic and foreign innovators and related entities to develop and test new drone solutions.
Drone technology is one of the uae's key national strategies, the country has launched various initiatives to support its development, and the UAE Drone Charity Award has attracted more than 1,800 participants worldwide.
