On November 18, some Shanghai parents broke the news that some schools in Changning District recently made a questionnaire on mental health to students, but the questionnaire contained a number of related questions such as suicide preparation, and some parents questioned the strong inducibility of the questionnaire, fearing that it would hurt the child's psychology. On November 19, the Changning District Education Bureau responded that it had requested the suspension of the questionnaire work, "the Department of Minors Mental Health Counseling Center and the relevant departments of our bureau did not strictly control the content of the questionnaire, causing confusion among students and parents to worry, for which our bureau sincerely apologized."

Looking at the content of this psychological questionnaire, the questionnaire has tacitly acknowledged that all primary school students have suicidal tendencies, so the respondents were surveyed for "suicide preparation", which is very unscientific. Such an unselected psychological questionnaire, directly stuffed to primary school students, not only can not play the role of scientific screening, but also counterproductive, causing negative impact. At present, it seems that the strong disgust and indignation of parents is also not unreasonable.

Elementary school years are a critical period for the rapid development of human behavior, character, and intelligence. At this stage, due to the rapid physical and mental changes, coupled with the lack of cultural knowledge and social experience, primary school students are prone to psychological problems. Therefore, schools should follow a reasonable mental health survey when conducting mental health surveys for "abnormal students". Primary school students have done a lot of problems related to "suicide" without professional guidance, and they are easily induced by bad inducements.

It is the unshirkable responsibility of education and teaching to eliminate obstacles in primary school students' cognition, emotion, will, etc., exercise their will quality, optimize their quality of knowledge, affection, intention, and behavior, and enable them to form a good character and healthy psychology. This year, the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued the Notice on Strengthening the Management of Students' Mental Health, which aims to incorporate the psychological education curriculum of primary and secondary schools into the school curriculum. The questionnaire of some schools in Changning District may have been originally out of concern for the mental health of students, but because the questionnaire was inappropriate, it obviously had a negative effect. It is hoped that the mental health test and education of students can be taken as a warning, strengthen the mental health work of students, focus on guiding students to grow positively and healthily, cultivate their excellent psychological qualities, promote the harmonious development of their personalities, and improve their personality, so that they can consolidate their psychological foundation and meet various challenges.
