Police said the Asian driver had a valid license to hold a gun. The driver's neighbors also said that pulling out a gun to fight back was an act of protecting himself and his family.
Police said the incident occurred at around 0:15 a.m. on the 20th in the Mayfair district of Philadelphia. At that time, the Asian-American Uber driver was getting out of the car on the side of the street when 3 men came to him with guns. As a result, the Asian driver pulled out his gun and chased 3 people to shoot in a row.
One of the men was shot in the chest and died in the hospital at 4:59 a.m. on the 20th. Another man was also shot several times and in critical condition. A third suspect has been arrested and police have found 2 pistols.
Police also revealed that the Asian driver held a valid license to hold a gun. He explained the incident to the police, and surveillance footage confirmed his claim. The case is still under investigation.
