Recently, the Chongzhou Court of Chengdu publicly tried a criminal incidental civil public interest litigation case arising from bird hunting, and the defendant Ma Mou was sentenced to one year in prison and suspended for two years for illegal hunting, while compensating for the loss of ecological value and publicly apologizing in the Chengdu municipal media. Defendant Ma Mou said in court that he obeyed the judgment and would not appeal.

On April 29, 2019, defendant Ma Mou, for the purpose of selling and domestically raising birds, drove a car to a mountain in Dujiangyan City to set up a bird catching net, and trapped birds by using a player to play bird songs, and was stopped by the police on the way back from driving.

The police seized 45 birds at the scene, as well as bird traps, players and other crime tools, including 44 dark green embroidered eye birds (terrestrial wild animals that are beneficial or have important economic and scientific research value protected by the state) and 1 mountain blue fairy wren (endangered wild animals protected by the state).

The Chongzhou Procuratorate filed a public prosecution with the Chongzhou court for the crime of illegal hunting committed by defendant Ma mou and filed a criminal incidental civil public interest lawsuit. The Chongzhou court formed a seven-member collegial panel in accordance with the law and tried the case.
