author:Tao Xingchen

Use Baidu Map, AutoNavi Map, to find the bus of The West Four North Five Strips. On foot for 100 meters, you can reach the former residence of the great bibliophile.

During the hike, you have to pass by overseas digest magazine. Founded in 1984, Overseas Digest magazine is a comprehensive monthly Chinese magazine that is close to the perspective of life overseas. Before the rise of the Internet, he was a best-seller and a magazine that both men and women, young and old, liked to read. He also took his place in the newsstand in Beijing. Unexpectedly, the famous magazine agency hid in the alley.

No. 26, West Four North Five Articles, is the address of the magazine.

The magazine is not large and occupies a complete courtyard. The old trees and old houses in the yard made people feel very comfortable.

It is here, the former residence of the great bibliophile Fu Zengxiang. The gate was piled high with debris. Don't know what's going on inside?

Fu Zengxiang (1872-1949) was a native of Jiang'an County, Sichuan. At an early age, he studied private school with his father in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other places, and later settled in Tianjin. During the Qing Guangxu dynasty, he was a scholar and a scholar, and was taught the editor of the Hanlin Academy, and served as a directly subordinate envoy.

He founded the Tianjin Beiyang Women's Normal School and the Beijing Normal School, and in the sixth year of the Republic of China (1917), he became the chief education officer of the Beiyang government.

In 1918, Fu Zengxiang bought a property in Beijing, which is No. 15 Xisibei Wutiao Hutong in the photo above. It was the 7th at that time. Courtyard No. 7 was originally the residence of Qing Dynasty officials.

The two courtyards are crossed from east to west. In the east courtyard, there are rockeries and hexagonal pavilions. Fu Zengxiang named the courtyard "Tibetan Garden". He called the place where the books in the garden were stored "Double Jian Lou".

The Shuangjian in the Shuangjian Building is the Yuanjian "Zizhi Tongjian Yin Note" handed down by his grandfather, and the Song periodical "Zizhi Tongjian" purchased by himself. He called the two Song Yuanben "Zizhi Tongjian" "Double Jian".

In addition, there are also 150 kinds of Song ben (including gold books) in the Shuangjian Building, dozens of yuan books, and countless Ming and Qing dynasty engravings, famous banknotes, and famous school books, with a total of more than 200,000 volumes. All he was called the Great Bibliophile. To be precise: an ancient bibliophile.

Fu Zengxiang not only collected books, but also "deeply loved to be good" and "the business of school chickens." According to statistics, he has more than 1,000 books and more than 16,000 volumes in his lifetime, which is the person who has proofread the most ancient books since the Republic of China.

His works are also many, representative works include "Shuangjian Lou Shan Bibliography", "Shuang jian lou collection of books continuation", "Tibetan Garden Group Book Inscription Collection" and so on.

Fu Zengxiang also photocopied and reproduced a large number of rare books of ancient books, including the Song Ben "Zhou Yi Zhengyi", "Dialects", "Liu Guest Anthology", the Yuan Ben "Chronicle of Sleepy Learning" and the Ming Ben "Yongle Classic" two volumes.

Fu Zengxiang is indispensable to the inheritance of Chinese culture.

Walking into the courtyard, I did not see the rockery, did not see the hexagonal pavilion, and did not see the "Double Jian Building". Only full of small houses, clutter. Greeted by the recreation room. I watched it for half a day, and I couldn't find any traces of the original. However, there are still a few ancient trees in the yard. I would like to circle these ancient trees and share with you the breath from the great bibliophile of a hundred years ago.

This ancient tree, with its branches raised high.
