  Methyl stearate is an ester organic compound, also known as methyl octadecanate, is a long-chain fatty acid formed monoalkyl ester, at room temperature is a colorless or slightly yellow transparent oily liquid to semi-solid, with excellent permeability, thermal stability and antistatic properties. Melting point 37 ~ 39 °C, density of 0.84g / cm3, insoluble in water, soluble in methanol, ethanol, DMSO and other organic solvents.

  Methyl stearate can be used to prepare these additives:

  1. Eluent for the preparation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

  12wt% methyl palmitate, 53wt% methyl linoleate, 30wt% methyl oleate and methyl linolenicate, 5wt% methyl stearate, can be prepared eluent, the eluent can remove polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon contaminants in the soil, for the total amount of PAHs in the soil 12 by a single elution, from 996.84 mg/kg to 645.19 mg/kg, the removal rate can reach 35.28%.

  2. Preparation of emulsifier

  Methyl stearate is the raw material for the preparation of emulsifiers, such as the preparation of sucrose emulsifiers, using methyl stearate, methyl oleate, methyl palmitate as a fatty acid ester, under ordinary conditions directly reacts with sucrose to generate fatty acid sucrose esters, high esterification, strong emulsification capacity, and stable performance.

  3. Preparation of surfactant

  Methyl stearate and catalyst low-carbon monohydrate solution (methanol) were prepared by the reaction of sodium glycine in the filled bed reactor under pressure to obtain sodium stearoyl amino acid, and the content of sodium stearoyl amino acid in the reaction product was 93.6%. The method is economical, corrosion-free, low pollution, environmentally friendly, and is an alternative to the traditional Schotten-Baumann synthesis method of cleaner production.
