The Big Short prototype calls cryptocurrencies the biggest bubble: but I didn't go short

author:Finance

Michael Bury, the archetype of the movie "The Big Short," said in a now-deleted tweet Sunday that he didn't short any cryptocurrency, though he thought it was the biggest bubble he'd ever seen in his career.

Bury said: "I have never shorted any cryptocurrency anyway, this is my third bubble and the biggest one. I learned something. On the other hand, the 30-year Treasury note ..." hinted that he was shorting the U.S. treasury, possibly because he expected the spike in inflation to force the Fed to raise interest rates, thereby depressing bond prices.

Bury, who jokingly asked on Twitter last month how cryptocurrencies should be shorted, later said the asset class was in the middle of a bubble, but added that he saw the value of blockchain and irreplaceable tokens and even bought some tokens.
