Gao Gong and Zhang Juzheng are friends or enemies in the end

author:Historical writer Guo Baoping

Gao Gong and Zhang Juzheng were both famous noble courtiers in the middle and late Ming Dynasty, and the two had a very close relationship and were brothers.

When the elder Zhang Juzheng was 13 years old, Gao Gong was doing editing in Hanlin Academy, Zhang Juzheng was also promoted to Shu Jishi, and after graduation, he also stayed in Hanlin Academy to do editing, and the two became colleagues. Both men are aspirants and agree on many issues. They were all worried about the decline of the Ming Dynasty, had a clear understanding of the shortcomings that existed, and all shouted loudly to cheer up, get rid of false decorations, practice practical government, and realize the prosperity of the Ming Dynasty. Zhang Juzheng knew that he lacked the practical knowledge of governing the country and the country, and humbly asked Gao Gong for advice, and the two became friends. In the words of Zhang Juzheng, he and Gao Gong are "friends of life and death"; in the words of Gao Gong, he and Zhang Ju are "friends of gold and stone"; in the words of Zhang Siwei, whom they collectively appreciate, Gao and Zhang Ergong are "neck-to-neck sex", and the degree of intimacy is "glue paint gold stone, not comparable".

Gao Gong and Zhang Juzheng once had the Incense Alliance, that is, the Baijiang brothers. But they are different from ordinary people's worshippers, which is "phased in with karma." That is to say, vowed to join forces to govern and revitalize Daming.

They finally got their wish. In the last years of Longqing, Gao Gong was the prime minister, and Zhang Ju was his deputy, and he was the only deputy for a period of time. That is to say, the cabinet consists of only two brothers.

The two men have worked together.

However, the undercurrent of the relationship between Gao and Zhang surged and quietly reversed.

The fact is that Zhang Juzheng formed an alliance with the eunuch Feng Bao and, by conspiratorial means, launched a coup d'état that could not be concealed, and expelled Gao Gong, the chief minister of the cabinet and prime minister, in one fell swoop; because of the fear of Gao Gong's resurgence, he also conspired to use a small to break into the palace forbidden incident and forge the earth-shattering false case of Gao Gongjun in an attempt to destroy the nine clans of the Gao clan, but because of the lack of secrecy, the conspiracy failed to succeed. There are many descriptions of these historical facts. However, the relationship between the two has not been involved since then, and I will focus on it.

Although Zhang Juzheng and the eunuch Feng Secret plotted to destroy the Nine Clans of Gao Gong, due to the lack of a hundred secrets, and gao gong also knew about this matter, but the two did not tear their faces, and their "friendship" remained for life.

No matter what Zhang Juzheng did in secret, on the surface, he always had great respect for the high arch. After he overthrew Gao Gong and took power himself, he never publicly said a bad word about Gao Gong.

After the case of Wang Chancellor's intrusion into the palace with the purpose of destroying the Nine Tribes of Gao Gong was hastily concluded, Gao Gong and Zhang Juzheng exchanged letters with each other continuously. Zhang Juzheng knew that Gao Gong's family was poor and his health was not good, so he often sent people to send him medicines and nutritional products. Maybe he knew that Gao Gong would not accept his money, so he sent some valuable things, and once let people carry jade and other things worth more than one thousand taels of silver. Sometimes, when Zhang Juzheng's sons traveled between Jingzhou and Beijing, he also specially asked them to visit his old friend Gao Gong in Xinzheng.

The high arch also repays the favor. Zhang Juzheng's two sons were raised, and Gao Gong sent people to Jingzhou to congratulate him. Zhang Juzheng's father died, and Gao Gong sent people to Jingzhou to mourn. Zhang Juzheng wrote to Gao Gong and said that this made him feel "sobby"! He said that he missed his brother very much, and was ready to go home in the spring and summer of next year, when he wanted to turn to Xinzheng and visit his brother, because he was looking forward to seeing his brother, but he felt that the current days were slow, and he was like a year!

Sure enough, Zhang Ju was on his way home, and when he went, he stopped in Xinzheng for a day to visit Gao Gong.

"After six years of separation, dreams always dream of you, brother!" Zhang Juzheng took the hand of the high arch and said emotionally.

On the way back to Beijing, Zhang Juzheng went to see Gao Gong again.

When they met twice, Zhang Juzheng still felt that he was not addicted, and wrote to Gao Gong saying, "I can't spit out all my nostalgia", and I always feel that there is no end to the confidant!

Gao Gong was sick and sick, and his speech was vague, and he asked Zhang Juzheng for two things: one was that he did not have a son, and now that he saw that he was no longer able to do it, he hoped that Zhang Juzheng would be the master to handle his step-son's affairs; second, after his death, he hoped that the central government could give him a sympathy ceremony - equivalent to writing a eulogy plus giving some funeral expenses.

A month later, Gao Gong died.

Receiving this news, Zhang Juzheng wrote to Gao Gong's younger brother: "Thirty years of life and death, once it becomes a yong tip, the heart will be split, and the pain will be indescribable!" He also said, "Looking back at the past, I hope that Xiao, Cao, C, and Wei will now become the Eternal Recipe, and every thought will be filled with tears." He sent people to pay tribute, and also sent his brother to carry heavy gifts to The High Arch of Xinzheng.

In "Prime Minister Daming", I focused on the relationship between Gao Gong and Zhang Juzheng, which is a main line of the relationship between the characters in this novel. When I wrote about their relationship reversal, I was in a lot of pain, tears, and several interruptions. Therefore, this novel depicts the relationship between Gao Zhang, not only fully respecting historical facts, but also pouring out a sense of truth. I am not only sorry for the reversal of the relationship between Gao Gong and Zhang Juzheng, but also sad that Daming has lost the opportunity of ZTE from now on! The tragedy of history has been playing out ever since!
