Yang Jian, a native of present-day Huayin, Shaanxi, was the founding emperor of the Sui Dynasty.
According to historical records, Yang Jianyi was born like a monster, with a prominent forehead, five large knots on it, sharp eyes, a long upper body and a short lower body, and his mother was very shocked when she saw it. But it was this man who grew up to end the chaotic world and establish a dynasty.
As we all know, China has a history of five thousand years, but there are two eras that are the strangest to us. One is the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the other is the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, because they were all born when the country was fragmented and very chaotic, taking the Southern and Northern Dynasties period, there were dozens of large and small dynasties that alternated, similar to the Dark Ages in Europe, and for three and a half centuries, there were very few historical records.

For example, the three-province six-part system and the imperial examination system were all pioneered by Yang Jian, and there is no doubt that Yang Jian was a great emperor. In the 1978 list of "100 Celebrities Who Influenced the Course of Human History" by the American scholar Michael Hart, Yang Jian ranked 85th. His greatest contribution was to unify China for the second time after Qin Shi Huang, to create the imperial examination system, so that the concept of being an official by studying was deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and people were constantly inspired to study hard, and the historical influence achieved was immeasurable, similar to our current civil service examination system.
Yang Jian has a great talent for governing the country, and during his 24 years in power, the society has developed steadily, the people have lived and worked in peace and contentment, and the people are very rich. First, he established a system of three provinces and six ministries, consolidating centralized power; at the same time, he reduced the taxes of the people, thus promoting the country's population growth and social and economic development; and then he abolished torture and established the imperial examination.
After Yang Jian's death, many people wept for him, and many neighboring countries also sent people to mourn. Because he once again unified China, ended the war and chaos, and enabled the people to live a stable life. His governing philosophy, architectural culture, and army building have had a profound impact on future generations and neighboring countries.
