Lecture Preview | Wang Zhiwei: The Qianlong Emperor - an extraordinary life that wanders between legend and reality

| Event Information |

The Qianlong Emperor in history was an emperor who left the most information and was interpreted by posterity. To this day, in the vast area from Jilin to Zhejiang, we can still see various relics about the emperor, in addition to more than one million square meters of palace architecture and magnificent royal garden palace, as well as calligraphy inscriptions, classics, etc.; he alone left more than 40,000 imperial poems, which are enough for posterity to read and evaluate. So, what kind of emperor was the Qianlong Emperor? How to deeply understand his multiple identities and construction performance? Was he the most internationally minded man in China in the 18th century? Are legends such as her birth, the fragrant concubine, and the queen with broken hair hollow or are there other hidden feelings? These issues will be discussed one by one in this lecture.
