A tourist on a 20-day independent trip in Russia tells you why St. Petersburg is fascinating

author:The forest is efficient and free to travel

When you think of Russia, do you think of Red Square and the Kremlin, as well as evenings outside Moscow?

Would you have thought of the great historical upheavals of the Tsars and the former Soviet Union, the greatness of Gorky and Leo Tolstoy, and the bravery of the fighting peoples?

Would you have thought that the snow covered the splendid palace, the biting Siberian wind blowing in the face...

And I, after twenty days of independent travel in Russia, knew that Russia is a charming water style, a sweet European wind and romantic artistic feelings, or a mysterious Arctic Circle, and the beautiful Aurora appears on the edge of the sky.

Forest September-October 2019 Russia Itinerary (excluding transportation between the two cities):

First stop: Six days to enjoy St. Petersburg

Second stop: five days to play in the golden circle town

Stop 3: Five days to play in Murmanst in the Arctic Circle

Fourth stop: four days to visit Moscow

Two years ago, I wrote a travelogue after returning from a trip to Russia: "Before a movie is released, I went to a Russian covenant (dry goods)", which roughly sorted out how Russia traveled independently.

I personally have no regrets about the itinerary, after all, the holiday is limited. If you don't consider holidays, if you stay in Russia on a personal tourist visa for 30 days, I will give You about 10 days to visit St. Petersburg.

Travel time should be in the summer.

This article explains from three perspectives: why St. Petersburg is fascinating.

It is not unusual for a city to have classical architecture, and it is rare that there is not a single modern building in the entire city center.

St. Petersburg is.

The architecture of St. Petersburg has a sense of the times. Once the capital of the Tsarist era, today's St. Petersburg is full of classical architecture left by the former imperial capital. In the 21st century, you walk through the streets of the 18th century, going back in time? Yes, St. Petersburg can give you that feeling.

These well-preserved and exquisite ancient buildings are found in every corner of St. Petersburg, and the city itself is an open-air architectural museum, and the whole city still looks so perfect and stunning. The point is that these buildings, which existed in the 18th century, now seem to have been foreseen today. The construction of the streets and alleys in the later period was also built in strict accordance with the unified style plan, and even if the sleeping Russian tsar returned from the tomb, he would certainly not get lost.

Although St. Petersburg is famous for its distinctive Russian classical architecture, these classical buildings are not in captivity and inaccessible, nor are they a sky-high ticket close to you but far away from you, he and you are 0 distance into the integration.

Before coming to St. Petersburg, I was full of thoughts about the Tsar, the Soviet Union, World War II, and it seemed that everything was related to the war. After an overnight train ride from Moscow to St. Petersburg, the moment I stepped out of the Moscow railway station in St. Petersburg, I was buried in the 18th-century Nevsky Prospekt with my luggage. The wide main street, lined with Russian classical architecture, is full of royal style. Three steps and one scene, as long as the history of St. Petersburg Nevsky Avenue gorgeous to the extreme, I sighed: it is indeed an imperial pattern, enough atmosphere.

In addition to showing the atmosphere, it is a well-preserved ancient building of the Tsarist era, and among the many modern cities in the world today, St. Petersburg has no sense of violation, which is enough to dominate the forest of classical cities in the world.

St. Petersburg is spread over 44 islands and is connected by more than 580 bridges, 20 of which are open and closed bridges that can be opened and crossed. There are 93 canals in the city, and the water area accounts for one-tenth of the city's area.

The Neva River is the mother river of St. Petersburg. The Winter Palace, St. Isa Kiev Cathedral, Peter and Paul Fortress, Poseidon Pillar and other buildings stand on both sides of the Neva River, and any one of them is a world-class landmark, and the scenery is naturally charming.

The Neva River is famous for St. Petersburg. Every year in the early morning of April to November, the bridge across the Neva River is opened in turn in time to facilitate the passage of large ships, which is very spectacular, especially the Hermitage Bridge, which opens from the middle and is more worth seeing. Therefore, seeing the open bridge is also an experience not to be missed in St. Petersburg.

St. Petersburg is beautiful because of the Neva River. The Neva River runs through St. Petersburg, and the most wonderful thing is the canals that flow through the city. As you can imagine, this famous cultural city is full of countless Tsarist buildings, countless winding rivers running through it, and the water style is very unique.

After visiting many famous museums and palaces and churches, strolling along the banks of the Neva River is a wonderful thing that will make you feel like you will not return home.

If summer comes, taking a boat cruise to see the scenery on both sides of the strait is one of the ways to get around St. Petersburg. Swaying on the Neva River, the refreshing summer breeze blowing, St. Petersburg under the blue sky and white clouds is truly beautiful.

St. Petersburg is known for its exquisite architecture, which combines the subtleties of all European cities. At the same time, St. Petersburg is also a world-class cultural city, where many celebrities have lived and created, including Pushkin, Lermontov, Gogol, Dostoevsky, Gorky and other literary heroes, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Glinka and other musicians, the "City of Magic" can be seen. To this day, St. Petersburg remains the center of world culture and art.

An ancient city with a thick history is destined to be a romantic city, and with the blessing of the Neva River, St. Petersburg naturally has a romantic temperament. Quaint and chic bridges, red parks, mysterious and gorgeous churches, palatial palaces... Every corner of the city exudes a taste of classical romance. Wandering through museums and church palaces, eating and drinking vodka and wandering the streets is not at all out of the ordinary in St. Petersburg.

Everything in St. Petersburg is slow, except that cars drive fast and the wind blows fiercely. Take a walk in the Gulf of Finland, blow the breeze along the Neva River, and take a cruise ship on the Neva River, where world-class ancient buildings such as museums, palaces, and churches are within easy reach. Enjoy a Russian meal in red wine, go to the Mariinsky Theater to see a ballet, and don't rush to the major attractions.

The beauty of St. Petersburg is best in June, July and August.

There is a saying: "Never compare it to the autumn in Russia". Autumn in St. Petersburg is indeed beautiful, but I'm here to tell you the truth.

Autumn in Russia is very windy, mostly cloudy, and blue skies are few. When the weather is good, everything is beautiful, when it cools down and rains, people are messy in the wind, and it feels as if they have come to "Siberia", which is very "Russian". In fact, the temperature is still above 0 degrees, but the wind is too strong, and the autumn is the high incidence of cold air activity. It is reasonable to say that the down jacket is not a big deal to wear, but the beauty of St. Petersburg is greatly reduced in rainy days, and when I am in such weather, I usually arrange tours in museums and church palaces.

So, if you don't have an autumn complex, it is recommended that you come in the summer, which is the most comfortable tourist season in St. Petersburg.

If you choose to meet in autumn, be sure to remember: the Siberian cold snap will come at any time, please bring your down jacket.
