This year, Du Bin was diligently imitating Song paintings, going to his studio, stacks of paintings and works piled up, just so immersed in it, enjoying it. The rigor and subtlety and depth of the Landscape of the Song Dynasty are nothing less than a contest and challenge of mentality for him who is bold and wild. From the beginning to choose some small parts to create, arbitrarily use the unrestrained freehand brushwork to transform, to gradually expand, and even the whole imitation, carefully curb their impulses, forcing the ancients to appear the realm of the ancients. In this way, I try it back and forth between collection and release, admire and cherish in obedience and stubbornness, and present these works in front of me, which can be regarded as the harvest of this spiritual root-seeking journey!
The Song people painted landscapes, and there was the original touch and love of the people in the face of lofty mountains and idyllic wild waters, so those landscape paintings still maintain a new and clean mountain to this day. The most valuable thing about Du Bin is that he should reconcile this original intention in the imitation, as small as a point, a branch and a leaf, to the extension of the panoramic landscape, all natural and refreshing, full of weather. The fan-faced works on display this time, within the exquisite scale, are intricately and flexibly, both plump and thick, and full of vitality, which is refreshing. The Beizong axe used in the banner landscape cleaves and folds the belt, not stereotypical and wild, but appears decisive and bold, interesting and exuberant, dotted with dense leaves, full of vitality, it is not difficult to see the influence of Pan Tianshou. Du Bin has always admired the lofty character of Pan Lao, which is actually the identity of the inner personality, gengjie, tangtang, depressed and fighting. In Du Bin's many stones, slopes, and cliffs, whether it is the sharpness that tends to be Fang Gang or the lush surge that tends to be round, you can feel the power of the character behind the imagery. There are also some works, which select the local imagery of a variety of ancient paintings, and fuse a new illustration, which is full of vitality and thickness, and they are wrapped in a long historical atmosphere, which is familiar and fresh.
Buddhism has a poetry cloud: "One flower and one thought are immeasurable, and the thousands are at one end." I entered the mustard seed and realized the Four Noble Truths to attain Nirvana. "Du Bin went from one millimeter to no bounds, the road is long and far-sighted, the subtle and more majestic, and the increasingly displayed his thousands of meteorological and yuantong wisdom, which makes people rejoice and look forward to it."
