Wenger and Ferguson
There is a legendary confrontation between Wenger and Ferguson. Such as Pizzagate, The Armada, the Battle of Buffy. But there was a special meeting between two of the greatest rivals in Premier League history, which was sensational at the time.
It was on 28 April 2013, after Arsenal drew with Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium, Ferguson's side was on the road to the title, and Wenger was also trying his best to fight for the top four.
League managers all thought they would be sidelined in 2008. But the enthusiasm between the two legendary coaches has remained so much that they rarely have a drink together after the game, as is traditional in English football.
However, one of Wenger's closest and most loyal allies, former Arsenal transfer agent Dick Law recalls that day eight years ago, Law said: "Most of the guest team staff walked down the hallway to the manager's office next to the main dressing room. Assistants usually arrive first, and the visiting coach shows up a little later. Sir Alex Ferguson's appearance in the manager's office that day was unusual. Over the years, I've been able to count with a few fingers how many times Sir Alex Ferguson has made the long journey from the away locker room to the manager's office. The intensity of the competition between the two of them can be said to be relentless. Sometimes, the bitterness of the result can make you uncomfortable. In short, there was little loss of friendship between the two of them. The manager's office that day was arranged like this: two easy chairs on one wall, a coffee table, a sofa on one side, and a few chairs on the other side. Sir Alex Ferguson greeted the Arsenal coaching staff cordially and before I realized this, he and Arsena came over and sat down in comfortable chairs. Everyone kept their distance. That moment was unique. Long-time competitors, sitting together, talking to each other cordially. What we saw in the manager's office was not a courtesy visit after the game, but a goodbye. ”
Ten days later, on 8 May, Sir Alex Ferguson resigned as United manager. ”
