Glasgow, November 10 (China News Service) -- China and the United States issued the Glasgow Joint Declaration on Strengthening Climate Action in the 2020s during the United Nations Climate Change Glasgow Conference on Climate Change on November 10. Xie Zhenhua, China's special envoy for climate change affairs, said at a press conference on the same day that the publication of the joint declaration once again showed that Sino-US cooperation is the only correct choice, and Sino-US cooperation can accomplish many major things that are beneficial to the two countries and the world. He said that there are still two days to go before the end of the Glasgow conference, and hoped that this joint declaration would make a Sino-US contribution to the success of the conference.

When introducing the joint declaration, Xie Zhenhua said that since the beginning of this year, in accordance with the spirit and instructions of the two heads of state, China and the United States have held dialogue and consultations on climate change, and the two sides have held nearly 30 video talks, and held two face-to-face meetings in Shanghai and Tianjin, and face-to-face talks in London and Glasgow. Through the joint efforts of both sides, the Glasgow Joint Declaration on Strengthening Climate Action in the 2020s has been reached this afternoon. The Joint Declaration builds on the U.S.-China Joint Statement on Addressing the Climate Crisis in April this year and the progress made at the Tianjin Talks in September, and further proposes concrete measures for China and the United States to carry out domestic actions, promote bilateral cooperation, and advance the multilateral process.

"Climate change is a common challenge for all of humanity and a matter of well-being for future generations. At present, the issue of climate change is becoming increasingly serious and urgent, and has changed from a challenge in the future to an ongoing crisis. Xie Zhenhua stressed that in the field of climate change, the consensus between China and the United States is greater than the differences, and there is a broad potential for cooperation. He said that there are still two days before the end of the Glasgow conference, and we hope that this joint declaration will make a Chinese and American contribution to the success of the conference. We are also willing to continue to strengthen dialogue and cooperation in the field of climate change with the US side in accordance with the spirit of the call between the two heads of state, implement this year's Shanghai Joint Statement and this Joint Declaration, promote the solid and deepening of Sino-US dialogue and cooperation on climate change, contribute to improving bilateral relations, and inject positive energy into the multilateral process.

"The publication of this joint declaration once again shows that Sino-US cooperation is the only correct choice, and Sino-US cooperation can accomplish many major things that are beneficial to the two countries and the world." Xie Zhenhua said that China and the United States, as two big countries, have assumed special international responsibilities and obligations, and China and the United States should show a big pattern and great responsibility, should conform to the trend of the world, tap more cooperation potential, and make historic contributions to promoting world peace and development.
