It is understood that the quarantine personnel of the Beijiao Office of the Bureau found a live snake in the process of on-site quarantine of a batch of goods from the United States, and the quarantine personnel immediately closed the container and carried out fumigation and pest removal treatment in strict accordance with relevant regulations. The snake was identified by an authoritative body through DNA testing (Thamnophis sirtalis).
According to the inspection and quarantine staff, there are about 10 kinds of parasites in the snake, such as whipworms, tapeworms, roundworms, nematodes, pinworms, Man's split-headed larvae, etc., as well as in vitro parasites, such as ticks, mites, etc., of which the more harmful snake roundworms, snake tapeworms, snake pseudo-round nematodes, snake rod nematodes, snake whiple tongue worms, etc., some parasitize the digestive tract, and some parasitize the respiratory system. The common banded snake belongs to a snake genus of the suborder Travis family, the banded snake is small, generally less than 100 cm, but more aggressive, the most widely distributed reptile in North America, mainly living in the United States, when disturbed, the head will be hidden, the tail will be squirming, while discharging an unpleasant secretion from the glands, some species bite people. Since snakes can carry a variety of important parasites, as well as a variety of pests such as ticks and mites outside the body, according to the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Quarantine of Animals and Plants Entering and Leaving the Country and relevant regulations, imported live snakes must go through relevant quarantine procedures, and only after passing the quarantine can they enter the country.
According to the preliminary statistics of relevant departments, there are currently more than 400 invasive alien species in China. Invasive alien species endanger the survival of native species, destroy ecosystems, and cause direct economic losses of up to 120 billion yuan per year.
