The title of the film, "Capernaum," is a biblical place name, a place near the Sea of Galilee, where many miracles and important things happened when Jesus began to preach. Director Nadi Labaki put the film somewhere between documentary and fiction.
In order to make the audience aware of this harsh reality and the authenticity of the story told, director Nadi Labaki chose a group of people who really lived in Capernaum to star in the film, and the actors must have experienced such a life.
Zane in the film is not played by a professional actor, but a real Syrian refugee. When he was discovered by the director, he was about 12 years old at the time and could not even write his own name.

"How to Be Home" was produced for more than five years, and the first three years of actual investigation alone lasted for 3 years, during which the script gradually formed, and people who really lived in the background of the film were used as actors, truly restoring the current situation of the lebanese underclass. After six months of shooting, I ended up with more than 520 hours of footage. Post-editing took another two full years.
