Zeng Xiaomin, deputy to the National People's Congress and president of the Guangdong Cantonese Theatre, said that opera is a treasure of Chinese culture, the crystallization of the wisdom and spiritual pursuit of the sons and daughters of all ethnic groups of the Chinese nation, and represents the unique style of Chinese aesthetic culture and the appreciation of elegant customs. Increasing efforts to inherit and promote Chinese opera is conducive to the establishment of cultural self-confidence and the realization of a cultural power.

At the Second Session of the 13th National People's Congress in 2019, the proposal to promote the socialization of opera has received the attention of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. With the support of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, in 2020, Zeng Xiaomin led a team to start the socialization examination of Cantonese opera, and established the "Cantonese Opera Examination Committee" to compile the first standardized and systematic Cantonese opera socialization examination textbook, and in 2021, the pilot of cantonese opera socialization examination will be launched in many cities in Guangdong.

"In recent years, opera has shown a vigorous vitality. Xiqu into the campus has become the norm of popular education, the Ministry of Education to promote "Peking opera into the classroom", Cantonese opera is also under the promotion of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, the establishment of opera (Cantonese opera) into the campus base, some colleges and universities in Guangdong take Cantonese opera as a compulsory, talent course, Guangzhou primary school interest class also opened Cantonese opera interest class. Deputy Zeng Xiaomin said that learning the art of opera has gradually become an important part of the aesthetic education of young people.

A few days ago, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council issued the "Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening and Improving School Aesthetic Education in the New Era", which incorporated opera into the school aesthetic education curriculum, which plays an important role in guiding students to establish a correct aesthetic and cultural outlook.

How to strengthen the school and students' attention to and active participation in opera, and to have a deeper understanding of China's excellent traditional culture, Zeng Xiaomin suggested:

The first is to support all localities to compile systematic and standardized opera popularization courses according to the characteristics of local dramas, cultivate professional teaching teams, and incorporate opera into the aesthetic education classrooms of high and primary schools, and make it one of the subjects for the comprehensive literacy evaluation of middle and high school students;

The second is to take the areas with teaching and popularization as pilots, incorporate opera into the optional examination subjects of the aesthetic education examination, and as a scoring subject for school examination admissions at the high school stage, determine the examination content according to the curriculum standards, and use modern technical means to promote objective and fair evaluation. It is proposed to take Beijing, Guangdong and other areas with the popularization of opera as a pilot to carry out the aesthetic education examination in 2022, and include opera as an optional subject in the aesthetic education examination.
