According to Dr. Zhao Bei of the Department of Dermatology of Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, ticks are an eight-legged arthropod insect, ticks with mouthparts, its mouthparts have a barb-like structure, ticks will continue to suck blood after biting people, and the head including the mouthparts are deeply rooted in the skin when sucking blood. Ticks live in the wild, may carry a variety of viruses in vitro parasites, and when bitten severely, even cause forest encephalitis, Lyme disease, hemorrhagic fever and other diseases.
"So after being bitten by a tick, its mouthparts and head may be stuck into the skin, at this time we do not want to slap it, but use forceps to pull the tick mouthparts out of the skin vertically as much as possible." Dr. Zhao said.
If they are bitten by a tick, doctors recommend that members of the public go to the hospital immediately, as the virus carried by ticks can enter the human body through the wound and cause infection. In the clinical treatment of patients who have been bitten by ticks, a small number of patients also develop life-threatening symptoms.
However, Dr. Zhao also said that everyone does not have to panic too much after being bitten by ticks, because there are many types of ticks, and not all ticks like to suck human blood. Even if it is bitten by a blood-sucking tick, the doctor's clinical observation found that because ticks carry viruses and different human immunity, only 10% of people who have been bitten will get sick, and most of them are mild and the proportion of critically ill is low.
