The reporter learned from the Forestry Public Security Bureau of Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan Province, on the 4th that the Shangyong Police Station of the Bureau recently smashed an illegal hunting gang hidden in the state-run Mengpeng Farm, arrested 8 criminal suspects, 7 of whom were criminally detained, and seized 11 civilian firearms of various types, a large number of civilian gun parts and accessories, ammunition, and the remnants of wild animals and their products.

On July 29, the police of the Shang Yong Institute received reports from the masses that Suo, Luo, and other residents of Mengpeng Farm in Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Prefecture, often operated in the nearby protected area and were suspected of illegal possession of firearms and illegal hunting.

Through the investigation of the police, a criminal gang of multiple people armed hunting with guns gradually entered the line of sight. On July 30, the police successively arrested three criminal suspects, including Suo, Luo Xiao, and Luo Cheng, and launched a search of the homes of the three criminal suspects. Suspected shotguns, gunpowder guns, nail guns and other civilian firearms were seized, as well as suspected gun spare parts, shotgun shells, steel balls, rifle strips, etc.

In addition to hunting tools, the police also seized a large number of wild animal remains and products suspected of being red antler handicrafts, red deer antlers, wild boar dried ba, chamois dried ba, chamois head, peacock pheasant feathers, white egret feathers and so on.

Subsequently, the police arrested the other 3 suspects of the gang, Yang X, Guo Shou X and Suo X, and on the same day, Li Dong, another criminal suspect of the gang, took the initiative to surrender himself to the Yinyong police station.

After interrogation, Suo, Luo Xiaomou, Luo Chengmou and other criminal suspects confessed to the crime of using a hunting rifle and 1 nail gun to hunt in a forest area near the border between China and Laos on July 29, on the pretext of eating wild animals, and Li Dong used a shotgun to shoot a "stinky pig" on the same day.
