Such as entering the favorite major, getting the personal teaching of famous teachers, and obtaining the results of academic achievements are the small dreams that many young people can meet, think, seek and achieve. Combined with what I have learned, I feel that Mr. He Jiaying is such an artist who can bring dreams and directions to scholars. Because his art has directly or indirectly broadened the horizons, thinking and pursuit of artistic creation of many young people.

I know that Teacher He Jiaying's name was twenty years ago, on the eve of the college entrance examination. At that time, the art exam for fine arts majors was approaching, and the school hired a teacher to teach us to improve the ability to take the test in color, drawing and sketching. This teacher is also from Weifang, very tall, more than ten years older than us, graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. After spending a long time together, I have a certain understanding of the teachers and friends around him, and there are two who are deeply impressed: one is Wang Shaolun, an oil painter, who is his high school classmate, who is now working in the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts; the other is He Jiaying, a Chinese painter, who is his teacher at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, and now the vice chairman of the China Artists Association. I remember that he talked a lot about Teacher He Jiaying's teaching at that time, but the time changed, the flowers fell with the wind, most of them were blurred and scattered, and only one thing he personally experienced was extremely clear. It was a classroom sketch I saw at this teacher's home, a four-foot vertical seat-style freehand figure painted by him during college, and the inscription of Teacher He Jiaying on the left side of the picture is a line of writing. The teacher valued the painting so much that he showed it to us only once during the two years he had studied with him. The ancients: "As far as the eye can see, the heart is to go." Perhaps under the influence of this teacher and painting, many students in the same class also had the dream of taking advantage of the college entrance examination "carp jumping dragon gate" to be admitted to the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. Many years later, when I recall this period of study, I have a lot of feelings in my heart. Because, like us, most of us who were born in peasant families and have never touched a brush, such a college dream is too distant and untouchable. As one of the lucky ones, after several years of twists and turns, I finally crossed the college entrance examination with difficulty and enjoyed the joy of the title of the college entrance examination of the four joys of life. Although I was unable to study in Jinmen like that teacher, I lost the east corner and received the mulberry, and I was lucky enough to enter a university in Beijing, and what I studied was also Chinese painting. In the past four years, I have been like a child, accompanied by the teachers, art learning from scratch, from shallow to deep, knowing the four families, four kings, four monks, understanding the traditional school and the academic school, both familiar with the ancients and the present. In the college, in addition to the teachers in the school and the artists outside the school, Teacher He Jiaying is what I pay more attention to. On the one hand, this is because of his art; on the other hand, it is because of the love affair with the teacher before the college entrance examination.

Compared with the monotonous hard reading in high school, the study of college art courses is more relaxed and interesting. I majored in three main courses, namely people, flowers and birds, and landscapes. Among them, the character class is the most, and the learning content is also the most abundant, such as sketch characters, gongbi characters, freehand characters, rock color characters, line drawing characters, etc., in addition, there are more important character copying classes. Therefore, until the later graduation exhibition, almost everyone painted human subjects. When it comes to the study of Gongbi painting, the learning materials in the class at that time were mainly based on the names of ancient masters, such as Zhang Xuan's "Trick Painting", Zhou Fang's "Lady of the Hairpin Flower", Gu Hongzhong's "Han Xizai Night Feast Map", etc., everyone had copied according to the original proportion of the painting. Others are contemporary painters and are used for learning and appreciation, both teachers and painters from outside the academy. Outside the courtyard, the impression that has long been preserved in the memory is Teacher He's gongbi works, such as "Rice Fat's Mother-in-law", "Mountain", "Nineteen Autumn", "Sour Grapes", "Soul Horse Crest", "Autumn Meditation", "Embroidered Girl", etc., these works have both painting feelings, painting theory, and painting meaning, which can be both observable and appreciative, and can also get zong Shaowen's "lying tour", which has a huge influence in the painting world. It is a little regrettable that paintings are only commonly used in albums and albums, and few original works are displayed in a concentrated manner. This year, the work "Autumn Meditation" launched an original encrypted limited screen print, and when I met again, I still had a sense of closeness, and I couldn't help but think of the time when I painted in college and the students who studied together.

There is a relatively common phenomenon in the School's Chinese painting major, that is, there are fewer boys and more girls. Our class is the most obvious, there are sixteen people in the class, twelve girls and four boys. This may be related to the professional characteristics of Chinese painting, especially Gongbi painting, many people feel that it may be more suitable for the temperament of literary and quiet female students. Taking my class as an example, there is indeed such a trend. The boy's brush is relatively rough, and the picture texture and beauty are slightly worse, far less than several outstanding female students in the class. I remember that sitting across from me was a girl, her brush strokes felt very good, thick and elegant, and seemed to have a lot of experience with He Jiaying's work strokes. For a while, I often saw her holding a picture book to study with Pro. At the graduation exhibition, she created a painting of ethnic minority figures, the portrayal of the face is particularly outstanding, there are many techniques that should be borrowed from The works of Teacher He, the effect after the completion of the work is good, it is a high-level character creation. After graduation, we didn't have much contact, only that she got married and had children, and she was admitted to the graduate school of the school, majoring in Chinese painting. After that, there was less contact, as if I had gone to Tianjin to live. I don't know if she is still painting now, but with her feelings on the brush stroke, she should stick to it, if she has the opportunity to study with Teacher He in Tianjin for a few years, I think she has already made some achievements in art today. I was also one of the people in the class who liked Mr. He's works, but I did not directly borrow his works for creation, at that time I saw more of his painting collections, due to shallow knowledge, it was difficult to say where his paintings were good at that time, but I just felt that the picture was clean, comfortable, rigorous, and the atmosphere of the times. The characters are portrayed very naturally, different pictures, different characters have different personalities, and they are meticulous, beautiful and poetic, with both the relics of the ancients and the breath of today's people. For learners, they can use his works to paint characters and create well, and make a good transition between tradition and contemporary. Therefore, many students like to imitate his figure painting creation techniques and artistic expressions. Because this learning process is simple and direct, but also effective.

During his college years, he could only learn about He Jiaying with the help of his works and paintings. I met him in person after I worked. During this period, he left the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and came to Beijing to work at the China Academy of Art. There are many artistic activities in Beijing, and I took this opportunity to meet him for the first time at a painting exhibition of the Military Museum, which was the appearance of a northerner and a southern person, of medium stature, a clean and white face, a deep and focused expression, a low voice, and a scholarly spirit in Confucianism. After that, there were several chance encounters, all of which were one-sided and did not have direct conversations. Until a year ago, with the help of an old gentleman, I pushed several articles I had written to him via text message, and unexpectedly, he soon gave a reply and many words of affirmation, which made me feel both surprised and more confident. As a result, I also wanted to write an interview about him, but due to his busy work and the epidemic, I have not been able to do so. If the heart feels something, it will send something. The unique artistic style conveyed in his works has benefited me a lot and gained a lot of insights.

Mr. He Jiaying's works are excellent models for contemporary figure painting, especially his gongbi characters, like the inscriptions of learning calligraphy Linmo, which have long-term and evocative vitality. His work and brush paintings are mainly concentrated in the more than 20 years after teaching at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, and the number of works is not only large, but also of a high standard, most of which are his famous works. Almost everything I saw during my school years was the work of this period. The character material in these works is extensive, including middle-aged women, girls, students, farmers, ethnic minority figures, nude figures, etc. Although the content expressed in the painting is different, the artistic conception of the picture is consistent, with a literati elegance. These works are mainly filled with line shapes. Due to his profound cultivation in Chinese painting and solid modeling ability, he perfectly integrates the lines in his paintings into the shape of the characters, and the lines change with the rhythm of the body, resulting in different rhythmic beauty. The painting is colored, thin and transparent, transparent and thick, not vulgar, not colorful, not charming, can reflect the character temperament in the subtle tone change, with a dreamy and idealized color beauty.

Lines, shapes, and colors are the basic skills required for the creation of Chinese painting characters, but the skills are easy to learn, and the humanistic cultivation and artistic feeling behind the skills are not human, but from the paintings of Teacher He Jiaying, we can feel his unique, sensitive and extraordinary artistic talent.

Teacher He Jiaying's works have a subtle and delicate emotion. His creations focus on women in ordinary lives. This kind of subject matter is difficult to draw, because it is easy for authors and readers to fall into a mindset: to see women as beautiful women. He Jiaying is particularly wary of this conceptual and tacky tendency in his creation. In his creation, he attaches great importance to "seeking differences", always observes the object in depth, fully portrays the psychological and mental state of the object, from the external image to the inner temperament, reflecting the subtle differences between different characters.
