In recent days, the world-class endangered species of Shoudai bird has frequently appeared around the Xixi South Wetland in Huizhou District, and many bird watching enthusiasts and photography enthusiasts have rushed to see the "fangrong" of Shoudai birds and retain the beautiful picture of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
Shou belt bird is also known as ribbon bird, practice magpie, long-tailed bird, a branch of flowers, etc., its beautiful shape, size like a sparrow, the most significant feature is its two gorgeous central tail feathers, flying in the wind like ribbon in the fluttering; in old age, the whole body feathers of the shou belt bird become white, dragging the white long tail, flying in the forest, so it is also called a branch of flowers, the shou belt bird means good, symbolizing longevity and well-being.
According to photography enthusiast Wu Chengquan, he found the traces of shoudai birds in the Xixi South Wetland last year, and this year, in order to take more good photos, he inspected the surrounding area of the wetland in advance. "The fact that the Shou belt bird flies here every year shows that the environment here is getting better and better." We have been keeping an eye on its whereabouts, from the time it begins nesting and courtship to hatching and feeding and teaching young birds to dive, there are footage records. ”
Following the footsteps of photography enthusiasts, the author also came to the nesting place of the Shou belt bird in Xixi South Wetland, in order to better shoot the Shou Belt Bird and not disturb the birds, the photography enthusiasts set up the "long gun and short cannon" early, and some people even squatted here for a few days, just to shoot the whole process of the Shou Belt Bird from nesting, foraging and reproduction. According to observations, at present, there are more than a dozen bird nests of Shoudai birds found in the maple poplar forest around the Fengle River, mainly distributed in Linhe and Toyama in Yansi Town, as well as Shiqiao and Pa Village in Xixi South, which are often active among the dense branches in the middle and lower layers of the forest. The nest is built between the branches, with bark and grass leaves as the nest material, the nest shape is cup-shaped, generally male and female nest coexistence, foraging insects and feeding, long tail swaying, slow flight, like a kite streamer, exceptionally elegant and pleasant. Their food is almost entirely insects, and lepidoptera is the most common, such as moths, locusts, goldenrods, pine caterpillars and their larvae and eggs and other insects that seriously endanger agriculture and forestry, is a beneficial bird.
It is reported that as a terrestrial wild animal protected by the state "three haves" (beneficial or with important economic and scientific research value) of the national "three haves", in 2012, it was included in the "World Conservation Animals Alliance" red list of endangered species, and is an extremely precious bird. Shou belt birds belong to the "forest birds", the ecological environment requirements are high, and the unique geographical environment around the Xixi South Wetland is very suitable for this bird to live, food is also relatively sufficient, coupled with the local villagers are also very friendly to birds, so every year from April to June Shou belt birds will choose to come here to breed.
