"Construction of French Style" is one of the only two remaining ancient architectural technology books in ancient China, which records the design methods of ancient architectural large wooden structures and painted paintings, written in the last years of the Northern Song Dynasty, and the author Li Jie is the main reference book for the study and restoration of ancient architecture so far. Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin's son is called "Liang Congjie", which means "to learn from Li Zhi", and there is a deep hope in these two words.
The most important thing is that Mr. Zhu is the enlightenment teacher of Mr. Liang Sicheng, whom I respect the most. When Mr. Zhu founded the "China Construction Society", Liang Sicheng, Lin Huiyin, Liu Dunzhen, Luo Zhewen, Chen Yuan, Li Siguang, Li Ji and other the most outstanding academic elites at that time, as well as many people of insight who were active in the financial and political circles, joined the society. The society focuses on the investigation, protection and research of ancient buildings, leaving a large number of precious manuscripts, pictures and drawings for future generations, which are preserved in the Department of Architecture of Tsinghua University today and have become an important basis for the study of ancient Chinese architecture.

Along the promenade, the two sides of the eight courtyards in turn, the promenade has a gallery seat, flower windows, staggered elegant, some of the residual carved glass feels like the style of the Republic of China period; may be caused by a long time to fall off, re-paint brushing, do not see any paint marks, some regrets; but look at the rafters on the corridor and the production process can really be seen in the royal building, it can be seen that it was built by the craftsmen of the Forbidden City.
The eight courtyards on both sides of the promenade are also seriously built privately, and the main building cannot be clearly seen, only the last courtyard in the western part of the courtyard sees the main body of the house, the tiles, ridges or the original, simple and thick, showing the regulations built in that year. I wanted to find some of the original painted and original main buildings, but it was difficult to see, just from the crowded private buildings to see the original building main body thick wall edge. Lamenting the painstaking efforts that Mr. Zhu built according to the "Construction of The French Style", the good news is that the main building is well protected and has not suffered serious damage.

I was thinking: Mr. Zhu Qizhao, as the first person to protect and inherit the culture of the ancient capital, was the first to put forward the concept of "repairing the old as old", and was also the first to promulgate the "Regulations on the Protection of Scenic Spots"; he once poured out his family property for the "China Construction Society" with his personal strength, supported Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin and others to travel through 11 provinces, 190 counties, and 2738 buildings, and for the first time conducted a detailed investigation of Chinese architecture from ancient times to the Ming and Qing dynasties; advocated the construction of urban ditches for the Chinese people to enter civilization and avoid diseases. For the first time, locust trees were planted in the streets and alleys, willows were planted along the river; the first citizen park, Zhongshan Park, was opened, and the "Yuxuan Of Laijin" was established, allowing people to walk into the royal garden and feel the elegant gathering of new friends and old friends with a pot of tea.
Today, however, we cannot protect a 3,000-square-meter house donated to us by Mr. Zhu. The former residence of Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin was not far from here, but it has disappeared without a trace, so why not let this former residence become a memorial hall where the two gentlemen gathered, so that future generations can admire and remember it.
Looking at history and saying today, it is not to make people sad and nostalgic, let alone to satirize and suggest, but to make people understand. The culture of Beijing is the composition of people and things in the hutongs, and it is no longer possible to fulfill what Lin Huiyin once said and rebuild the Yongding Gate...
