Qin Zhijian

Qin Zhijian was born in October 1976 in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu, the hometown of table tennis. In 1994, Qin Zhijian won the men's team championship of the Table Tennis World Cup with the team, but the successive defeats in the 1994 European competition and the 1995 table tennis world championships made him change from the main force to the sparring partner. Out of his love for table tennis, Qin Zhijian was not discouraged, and in 2001, he and Yang Ying won the mixed doubles competition at the Osaka World Championships, and then won the 9th National Games table tennis mixed doubles championship with Yang Ying, and helped Jiangsu team win the 10th National Games table tennis men's team championship, successfully ending the athlete's career. During this period, he was awarded the Sports Medal of Honor by the State General Administration of Sport in 1995 and the First Class Meritorious Service by the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the Jiangsu Provincial Government in 2005.

In November 2005, Qin Zhijian officially retired as a trainee coach and successively became the head coach of Ma Long, Xu Xin and Wang Liqin, guiding and accompanying Ma Long and Xu Xin from unknown young players to gold medal players with global reputation. Qin Zhijian believes that it is better to teach by words than by example, and it is necessary to give examples to the team members, and education and guidance are more effective. In his work, he is both "kind" and "strict", doing his best to care for the team members in life, and cooperating with the team members on the field so that they can exert their maximum strength. He also has to take care of some work for the whole team, starting from the overall needs of the team, taking care of each team member to ensure that they can better meet the game. In 2008, Qin Zhijian was again awarded the Sports Medal of Honor by the State General Administration of Sport.
