Xiangtan Fengwu Zhi 丨 The origin of hidden mountains

It is said that on this day in the Tang Dynasty, the Buddhist Zen Sect Cao Dong Sect ancestor Dongshan Monk Liang price and the Shenshan monk Secret walked together and came to the Longwang Mountain Boundary in Xiangtan County, the capital of Tanzhou, and a vast mountain came out of the sky, with ancient trees and lush trees, and there was no road in the foothills of the mountain, but there was a sound of the smell of the stream. Looking down, there were vegetable leaves falling straight down the stream. The two of them walked five or seven miles forward, and finally saw an old man with a strange appearance meditating cross-legged.

The monk of Longshan asked, "There is no road to this mountain, where did J༇l (pronounced shé lí, the sanskrit aya" "ajayali (pear)" province, meaning high monk) come from?" Zen Master Liangfei replied randomly, "The question of no road is put aside for the time being, where did you monk come from?" Long Shan replied, "I have not clouded water", which means that he does not move around like the clouds and flowing water, he is determined to be here, it does not matter where he comes from. Dong Shan asked again, "How long has the monk lived on this mountain?" Long Shan replied, "Spring and Autumn are not involved." "It means that I am detached from nature, and I am still concerned about what spring goes to autumn." Dong Shan had already begun to know the weight of his opponent, so he then issued a bold question: "So, is this mountain living here first, or are you living here first?" Long Shan replied, "I don't know." Dong Shan asked again, "Why don't you know?" Long Shan replied, "I am not a man of heaven." This means that "human heaven", that is, the entire human world and the natural world, have transcended my senses, why should I know?

After several rounds of maneuvers, the monk of Dongshan directly asked, "Monk, what reason do you have to live on this mountain?" The monk said, "I saw two mud bulls fighting into the sea, and until now there has been no news." As soon as he heard this, the monk of Dongshan had a new enlightenment, and immediately put on his clothes and bowed. And after the Monk of Dongshan left, this Longshan monk burned the hut where he lived with a fire, leaving a poem on the cliff wall: "Three huts have never lived, and a divine light is idle." Don't do it to distinguish me, floating life through chisel is irrelevant. It is said that the monk later wrote another poem: "A pool of lotus leaves is innumerable, and there is more than enough pine flowers on the ground." Just after being known to the world, he moved the hut into the deep house. ”

Isn't it obvious what the metaphor of "two bulls fighting each other" is really wonderful, and what kind of result will be when a cow made of mud soaks in the sea water? However, the obvious truth is the most difficult to understand, and if we think about the turmoil and infighting in the world, both sides are defeated and injured, and there is no news, can we not understand some philosophies?

In the third year of the Southern Song Dynasty (1129), Hu Anguo, a scholar of Chong'an University in Fujian Province, and his son Hu Hong and others moved from Jingmen, Hubei province to Xiangtan, where they settled in Biquan. He wrote books and preached in the wild, and he had the style of a hermit and a high man. Perhaps, he remembered Gao Yin, who came out of Longshan, "Mud Cow into the Sea", and poured a block of his heart, so he renamed Longshan Hidden Mountain. After the death of their father and son, they were buried in the Hidden Mountain according to their own account.

Yuanren Yin Tinggao wrote a moving verse in "Sending The Brothers of the Monks to the Tomb of Fenglu", "There is no news about the mud cattle entering the sea, and there is no news in the thousands of valleys and thousands of empty green cold". Hundreds of thousands of years later, Mao Zedong splashed ink and wrote a high-pitched and moving "Man Jiang Hong" lyric. The great literary hero Guo Moruohe composed a poem "Man Jiang Hong", which has a sentence "The dog barks and laughs, and the mud cow enters the sea without news."
