Monty Williams was named Coach of the Year by the Coaching Association

The American Basketball Coaches Association announced today that Suns coach Monty Williams was named Coach of the Year by the association.

The award was voted on by the league's 30 head coaches, and Williams immediately issued a statement thanking him:

"I have the utmost respect and admiration for the coaches in the league, so it's an incredible honor to be recognized by my peers. Every coach in our league has sacrificed a lot to make their team and organization better, so that really scares me. ”

This season, Williams led the Suns to a record of 51 wins and 21 losses, finishing second in the West and their first Pacific Division title since 2007. In a shrinking season, the Suns still have 17 more wins than last season.
