What the hell is this bird? The reporter asked Guo Zhun, director of the scientific research office of the Mengjin Management Center of the Yellow River Wetland National Nature Reserve in Henan, for help, and Guo Zhun replied that this black bird is not a black swan, nor a bone-top chicken or a black water chicken, but an ordinary cormorant.

With a red or orange-red beak and a white stripe near the end, black swans often inhabit open waters such as coasts, bays, lakes, etc., and feed mainly on aquatic plants and aquatic insects. The bone-top chicken and the black water chicken belong to the same crane-shaped order Buzzard family, hermaphroditic and male, very similar in appearance, the difference is that the mouth and frontal carapace of the bone-top chicken are white, while the mouth of the black water chicken is yellow-green, the base of the upper mouth to the frontal carapace is bright red, the two ribs have white stripes, and there are two white spots under the tail, while the head and neck of the common cormorant have a purple-green luster, and the shoulders and wings have a bronze luster.

Guo Zhun said that ordinary cormorants are known as "men's ospreys", are good at catching fish and preying, and are also common winter migratory birds in the Yellow River wetlands.
