Zhalong National Nature Reserve
Located in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, the Zalong Wetland Ecological Reserve is the most primitive and species-rich wetland natural complex in the same latitude area. With an area of 210,000 hectares, it was established as a provincial nature reserve in 1979, promoted to national level in 1987, and included in the "List of Wetlands of World Importance" in 1992.
Zhalong is a famous precious waterfowl nature reserve in China, located in the lower reaches of the Wuyuer River, 30 kilometers northwest of Qiqihar City. The Uygur River, a tributary of the Nen River, has lost its course and overflows into a large swamp, with dense reeds and abundant fish and shrimp, making it an ideal habitat for waterfowl.
It is composed of many small shallow lakes and vast meadows and grasslands, with longitudinal rivers and lakes and swamps, and the wetland ecology is well maintained. Only Chen Yun and Shi Zan: "The reed swamp can attract the preciousness of birds, and the meadow wetland is a world-famous album." The maximum water depth of the swamp is 0.75m, the maximum water depth of the lake is 5m, there are more than 260 species of birds in the Zhalong Nature Reserve, and there are more than 120 kinds of waterfowl, accounting for more than half of China. Among them, there are 35 species of birds under national key protection, the most famous is the crane, there are 15 species in the world, there are 9 species in China, and there are 6 species of red-crowned cranes, white cranes, white-headed cranes, white-naped cranes, gray cranes and feathered cranes in the region, worthy of being the "crane town" of the world. In addition to the abundant bird resources, there are 20 species of mammals, including wolves, red foxes, roe deer, badgers and yellow sheep; four species of amphibians, including Chinese forest frogs, black slash frogs, rain frogs, flower-billed toads; 3 species of reptiles, including lizards, freshwater turtles, etc.; 40 species of aquatic fish, crucian carp is the most abundant.
Every year from April to May, more than 200 red-crowned cranes come here to roost and breed, and the number of white cranes is nearly 1,000, which continue to migrate north to Russia after staying here, which is a migratory resting bird. A unique ecological landscape has been formed.
There is a red-crowned crane release area in the reserve, and 2 to 4 red-crowned crane release performances are arranged every day, and about 20 red-crowned cranes are released each time. Specific times are 10:10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., and during Golden Week and between June 15 and August 31, there will be two extra sessions at 11:10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
