Lin Chaoying, a legendary heroine. She died many years before the shooting plot began, so her figure has long been lost in the years of the jianghu. She was also a top master of technical pressure at that time, and at that time, the so-called four of the five top masters should have just emerged, and had not yet broken out of the later great reputation. Her martial arts once surpassed that of Wang Chongyang, who was famous for shaking the rivers and lakes, and she has always loved and killed Wang Chongyang. Both regard each other as partners for life, but in the end it ends with regret, and Lin Chaoying becomes the one who withers to death in the ancient tomb. And Wang Chongyang also regretted it for the rest of his life. This article tries to sort out the general timeline of the relationship between the two according to the clues in the book.
Wang Chongyang in the Jin Dynasty and Wang Chongyang, who founded the Quanzhen Sect in history, are two completely different people, so we cannot be confused with history. However, Jin Dada is good at embedding fictional martial arts characters into major historical events, and we can roughly sort out the timeline of Jin Dawu's martial arts characters from history.
In 1127, the Northern Song Dynasty fell and the Southern Song Dynasty was established. Fifteen years after the establishment of the Southern Song Dynasty in 1141, the "Shaoxing Peace Agreement" was signed with Jin, large-scale conquests stopped, and the border between the Southern Song Dynasty and Jin was basically fixed. A year later, in 1142, Yue Fei was wrongfully killed in the Fengbo Pavilion on trumped-up charges. Wang Chongyang was born in 1112, and Wang Chongyang was fifteen years old when the Northern Song Dynasty fell. Yue Fei was born in 1103, and Yue Fei was nine years older than Wang Chongyang. When Yue Fei died, Wang Chongyang was thirty years old. In 1170, Wang Chongyang was fifty-eight years old and feathered. Based on Wang Chongyang's timeline, we can roughly infer Lin Chaoying's timeline.
After Lin Chaoying's death, Wang Chongyang once entered the ancient tomb from the secret passage to see Lin Chaoying's remains, and cried and sacrificed. Then, after re-looking at the arrangement in the ancient tomb, he found the Jade Girl Heart Sutra created by Lin Chaoying that specially restrained the martial arts of the Quanzhen Sect. This shocked him greatly, although Lin Chaoying had passed away, but the competitive Wang Chongyang was still not convinced, so he wanted to create a martial art to restrain the Jade Girl Heart Sutra. As described in the book:
He went into the mountains alone, married a hut, and did not leave the mountain for three consecutive years, refining the breaking method of this Jade Girl Heart Sutra, although there were achievements in small places, but he could not form a set of martial arts that encompassed both inside and outside and integrated the strings. Discouraged, he admired Lin Chaoying's wisdom even more, and he bowed to the wind and no longer studied. More than ten years later, Huashan discussed the sword and won the Nine Yin True Scriptures of the Martial Arts. ...... After looking at it, after thinking about it for more than ten days, it has been fully understood, and at the moment, looking up at the sky and smiling, returning to the tomb of the living dead, carving the gist of the Nine Yin True Scriptures on the top of the most secret underground stone chamber of the whole tomb, and pointing out the method of breaking the Jade Girl Heart Sutra one by one. ”
After Wang Chongyang obtained the Nine Yin True Scriptures, he died the following year, which shows that Wang Chongyang's competitive character has been maintained until his death. Of course, this is Wang Chongyang in the martial arts, the historical Wang Chongyang is mainly cultivating, and he will not have such a strong competitive spirit, otherwise there is no way to soar into an immortal. In this way, Wang Chongyang spent a total of three years and more than ten years in order to crack the Jade Girl Heart Sutra. Assuming that more than ten years is calculated as thirteen years, then it takes about sixteen years. A year later, Wang Chongyang died, which means that Lin Chaoying died about seventeen years before Wang Chongyang's death. At that time, Wang Chongyang was about forty-one years old, while Lin Chaoying was depressed before he was forty years old.
So how many years did Lin Chaoying live in the ancient tomb? When Lin Chaoying made a bet with Wang Chongyang in a contest, he asked Wang Chongyang to become a monk in Zhongnan Mountain if he lost, and he was not allowed to go down the mountain with her for ten years, so did Wang Chongyang do it? Wang Chongyang, who is an export promise, should be able to do it, but what he can't do is Lin Chaoying. Whether Lin Chaoying could survive for ten years was a question. But Lin Chaoying created the Jade Girl Heart Sutra in the ancient tomb and practiced it, which would take five or six years. She needed to first understand Wang Chongyang's Quanzhen Sect martial arts, and then come up with a way to restrain herself, if she wasn't extremely smart for ten years, she probably wouldn't be able to do it. Huang Bao had only been in the mountains for decades to achieve the Nine Yin True Scriptures, and if Lin Chaoying had created the Jade Girl Heart Sutra in five or six years, there would have been only a few. In this way, the time when Wang Chongyang and Lin Chaoying competed was about when Wang Chongyang was thirty-five years old.
According to Qiu Chuji's recollection, after Wang Chongyang's rebellion against Jin failed, he once lived in an ancient tomb in anger to show that he did not share the heavens with the Jin State. The book goes on to mention:
"Until eight years later, a fierce enemy of the first division insulted him outside the tomb door in every way, provoking him for seven days and seven nights, and the first master really couldn't bear it and went out of the cave to fight with him. Did the man laugh and say, 'Now that you're out, you don't have to go back!' The first master suddenly realized that the enemy was well-intentioned, but it was a pity that he was buried in the grave with a good hand, and he was provoked out of the tomb with a trick. After this change, the two turned enemies into friends and joined hands to break into the rivers and lakes. ”
This shows that before this, Wang Chongyang and Lin Chaoying may have mainly fought each other, although they admired each other's martial arts, but they had not yet shown love.
A few years later, the contradiction between the two intensified, and the competition in the South Mountain occurred. Then Wang Chongyang's stay in the ancient tomb was about ten years ago. At that time, Wang Chongyang was about twenty-five years old. Therefore, in Jin Dada's martial arts world, Wang Chongyang's rebellion against Jin should have happened between the ages of fifteen and twenty-five. And most of the various enmity and resentment and emotional entanglements between Lin Chaoying and Wang Chongyang should be the things in this decade.
The time can be shortened a little more, Lin Chaoying lived in the ancient tomb for three years to create the Jade Girl Heart Sutra and died, Lin Chaoying provoked Wang Chongyang to come out of the tomb soon after the ZhongnanShan Competition occurred, then Wang Chongyang stayed in the ancient tomb for about thirty years old, that is, the year Yue Fei was killed. This would also better explain why Wang Chongyang lost hope in fighting against Jin to regain the Central Plains. Then the possible time for Lin Chaoying and Wang Chongyang to fight on the rivers and lakes will also increase by another five years, about fifteen years.
Lin Chaoying and Wang Chongyang, a couple, pursued their lives but ended in intransigence. They struggled hand in hand for about a decade, during which they were divided and merged. Then Wang Chongyang was defeated and entered the ancient tomb for eight years, and then Lin Chaoying stayed in the ancient tomb and died with hatred. These two people who love each other end their lives in such a way that people don't know what to say. Just do what should be done, like them so tough and competitive to the end, no one will give in, and in the end it will only be a tragedy.
