Shanghai Cultural and Creative Park has experienced nearly 15 years of development and has become an important force in Shanghai's urban renewal. This afternoon, the 2019 Shanghai International Creative City Design Innovation Forum with the theme of "Cultural and Creative Empowerment: Sustainable Development of Cities" was held. Internationally renowned scholars, experts in the field of innovation and creativity, and architectural design masters gathered to discuss the prominent role and future value of cultural creativity in the fields of urban neighborhood renewal, park management optimization, and urban function upgrading.
Lars Onsager Stordal, Director of Partnership Management at UN-Habitat Asia-Pacific, mentioned in his speech that urban renewal not only includes spatial renewal, but also covers economic, social and environmental renewal, and is consistent with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, adhering to the three principles of inclusion, innovation and integration, and will achieve social inclusion, urban prosperity, environmental sustainability, spatial development and governance structure in the future.
Each city has its own history of development, which has changed through the times and become a unique cultural imprint of the city. Wang Xiao'an, a national survey and design master and chief architect of Huajian Group's East China Architectural Design and Research Institute, elaborated on the reshaping of cultural creativity for urban functional positioning through wonderful case sharing, integrating creative elements into the redefinition of the block scale, injecting the people-oriented concept into the renewal process with the sustainable architectural ecological concept, integrating and coexisting with the environment, and stimulating urban vitality.
While carrying out commercial transformation, urban renewal projects should pay more attention to the reconstruction of the human world. Fang Wen, president of Shanghai Chuangyi Industrial Co., Ltd., pointed out at the forum that the development of Shanghai Cultural and Creative Park has experienced the early stage of "nesting and attracting phoenixes", and then to today's "connotation development", continuous exploration and upgrading development, has gradually formed a new model of organic integration of parks, communities and neighborhoods, balances humanistic feelings and industrial ecology in the transformation, and creates a humanized atmosphere of "creative life".
In Venice, due to the high historical value of the site, people are very conservative about the renovation of buildings, and the characteristics of the building itself will be preserved in large quantities during the renovation and renewal. Filippo Gabbiani, founder of KOKAISTUDIOS Design Firm in Italy, shared the promotion and application of this Italian renewal concept in the practice of building preservation and renovation in Shanghai today, based on the internationality and cultural nature of Shanghai. Paying attention to and developing the historical and cultural heritage left by the city can better excavate the huge regenerative capacity of the city.
The forum also held the "World Urban Renewal Excellent Case Exhibition", showing 19 excellent urban renewal cases at home and abroad, covering the rejuvenation of old industrial zones, the reuse of urban facilities, the micro-renewal of neighborhoods, the reconstruction of old factories, the construction of new characteristic towns, etc., representing the diversified carrier forms and industrial formats presented in urban renewal and transformation, and showing the beneficial exploration of world cities in urban transformation and development, stock asset revitalization, and architectural context.
