Wang Hongshou (1850~1925), stage name Sanmazi, Huaining Shipairen, famous Peking Opera performance artist in the late Qing Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty.
Wang Hongshou was born in the Hui class, and in his childhood he learned to be a wenwu old student in the southern jianghu class, and in the fifth year of Guangxu (1879), he went to Shanghai, entered the tea gardens of Jingui, Dangui, Tianxian and other tea gardens, and changed to singing Peking Opera. He acted in old dramas such as "Xu Ce Running City", "Sweeping Song Xia Shu", "Three Search Su Fu" and so on, which are unique, especially known for being good at acting Guan Yu opera, and have the reputation of "living Guan Gong". For example, single-fold plays such as "Baqiao Picking Robes", "Passing five passes", "Ancient City Meeting", "Flooded Seven Armies", and "Walking Maicheng" have been circulated from north to south and have become popular everywhere, becoming excellent preserved plays of Peking Opera.
Wang Hongshou as Guan Yu, there are many innovations and creations, such as changing the carmine red face to hook the red face, changing the five strands of hair to three hairs, using the old cavity and integrating the charm of the flower face, paying attention to the pie, enriching the body movements such as dancing knives and haircuts, adding the rendering of the horse boy in the horse trip, accompanying the horse boy's jump, making various appearances, with a beautiful posture and a good momentum. The image of Guan Yu created shows the divine power contained in the solemnity, calmness and stability, and the Guan Yu plays performed by Lin Shusen, Li Jilai, Tang Yunsheng, Li Hongchun, etc., are all the same. He also cooperated with Wang Xiaonong, Gao Qingkui, etc., and choreographed many new plays, which Zhou Xinfang learned from in his early years.
