Qiwei: Hello everyone, I am Li Qiwei, the director of "Story in the Mountains", I am honored that everyone likes my work, I am very happy, I think animation is what everyone likes, our animation is about a father and son returning to their hometown to visit their relatives, and the son's experience in his hometown evoked a memory of his father's childhood.
Wuhu Jun: Tell us about your teammates and some of the stories you've created together!
Qi Wei: I am mainly good at some of the early creations, some colors and post-production aspects are still my weaknesses, I also want to thank my two teammates, Huang Zishan and Fu Yin, and later joined Fu Yuxuan, in the team creation we can divide labor and cooperate, the early Huang Zishan's color feeling is better, he is responsible for the scene, coloring, character color designation part of our animation, and the rune is responsible for the post-effect and software parts.
Speaking of creative feelings, in fact, I always try to learn to conceive a variety of martial arts, fantasy, funny, strong type of stories, but before Bi Shi found that I had never actually done a delicate and moving story, but also felt that I was so rough how to do a delicate and moving thing, haha, so to the most important homework in college, I think I should do a delicate story, even if it is not what I am good at, the final effect is not necessarily good, it is also a learning.
At that time, my team members (Huang Zishan, Fu Yin) came to me and said that they wanted to create a story of elves and children, of course, it was completely different from the current story, after a period of thinking, I felt that this story could be very emotional, so I decided on the story of the elf and the child.
At first, a version was made, and there was only one kind of elf in the mountain, which is now the tree spirit. The narrative structure is similar to that of the present, but there is no time-space merger. At that time, I felt a little proud, ha, this story feels good! But Brother Yong (Teacher Li Zhiyong) told me that although this story is not bad, it is a seventy-point level, and if it is to be higher, it is necessary to make a breakthrough.
Then I entered a process of thinking, and suddenly I thought, if I want to do it, why should I limit it to one elf? The creatures in the mountains can be our material. So I began to continue to conceive more elves, and also added a more fantastic narrative, which is the prototype of the current story.
Wuhujun: Some friends said that after reading your works, I like to see "Totoro", will you have some references in the process of creation?
Qi Wei: In the creative process does need to learn a lot of excellent works for some study and reference, we first planned to create this type of work, I found a lot of films, I think "Totoro" and "Wolf's Son Rain and Snow" are more appropriate, I repeatedly studied these two works, but at the beginning did not directly learn them, but we went to dig deep into our own childhood fun, until we looked at "Totoro" again, found that there are indeed some similarities, haha, in fact, did not copy them It can only be said that in some ways of expression and creativity everyone has commonalities.
Wuhu Jun: The process of this work from the completion of the creation to the film screening is definitely not easy, you should have a lot of feelings in this regard and the students who are about to invest in graduation creation.
Qi Wei: I think it is best not to do it alone, we must cooperate in creation, everyone complements each other, the growth of ability and vision, 1 plus 1 will be greater than two, but also to enhance your interpersonal skills, the collision between personality and personality will also sharpen you more peaceful, so that you become mature.
And I think the creation is a combination of want and do, the idea is great, but the technology can not be realized, the effect of making it is not good, it will be deducted, then do not go to the realization, in the process of creation there will be a lot of new ideas to enter, I personally am more opposed to the beginning of all the ideas are stereotyped and then directly produced, I think in the creative process there will be a lot of new ideas The birth is also particularly good, but also more enrich your work.
In the process of creation, we should also pay attention not to give up the end, to understand what the core of the work is, I wanted to do some cool shots when I first made this work, the lens that can produce the effect, I think the picture needs this thing, at that time I couldn't control this desire to show it, and I spent a lot of time making this shot, but finally found that this shot was not suitable in the whole film, or it was decisive to give up, very heartache, but this is what you need to do as a director, to ensure the integrity of the work.
You also need to think clearly about what the core of animation creation is: want to narrate, want to be cool, or want to say a feeling, are all things you want to express in your heart, I personally hope that the work will not only be happy but also let everyone remember.
Sound music is very important to the work, we didn't get the music and sound effects until the final film was screened, and I was going to cry, because it was really beyond our expectations, and each piece needed to invest a lot of energy to pay, and the result would be amazing.
