The golden-throated woodpecker ( scientific name : megalaima franklinii ) is a species of bird in the genus Woodpecker in the family Lycaenidae. The golden-throated woodpecker is a small bird with a body length of 19–24 cm. The forehead is dark red, the top of the head is golden yellow, the back pillow has a large dark red spot, the ear feathers and the side of the head are silvery gray, the upper body grass is green, the chin and upper throat are golden yellow, the lower throat is light silver gray, and the rest of the lower body is pale yellowish green. The mouth is thick and the feet are green.

The golden-throated woodpecker inhabits evergreen broad-leaved forests at altitudes of 500-2500 m and feeds mainly on plant foods such as plant fruits, seeds and flowers.

The golden-throated woodpecker has been included in the "List of Terrestrial Wild Animals Protected by the State or of Important Economic and Scientific Research Value" issued by the State Forestry Administration of China on August 1, 2000.
