Germany's 4-2 win over Portugal at Euro 2020 is likely to be the biggest surprise of the tournament to date.

Germany enters Euro 2020 and many claim they are in crisis. Joachim Low resigned after the tournament because he had to make an awkward U-turn to recall Thomas Mueller and Mats Hummels. No one had high hopes for Die Mannschaft.
Meanwhile, Portugal are not only the holders – they are said to be stronger than the last time, with the likes of Bruno Fernandez, Ruben Díaz and Bernardo Silva joining the squad. So how did Germany beat them 4-2?
Maybe we underestimated Germany. Maybe we overestimate Portugal. Or is it both?
Robin Gossens' early goal sent a warning signal that was ruled out of offside.
Throughout the game, germany created one opportunity after another, passing the ball to the flank and crossing the goal. They scored two goals and none of the German players got a decisive touch – and players like Joshua Kimmich and Gossens hit the ball quickly, a dangerous weapon in the German arsenal.
Other teams need to be aware. Defending the flank and taking the ball first from within six yards is key to stopping germany's attack.
Cristiano Ronaldo's 107th goal didn't tell us anything new about him. The timing of the run was excellent and all he had to do was hit the ball from five yards.
But we should pay attention to one thing: this team is still Ronaldo's. Even with the addition of other stars around CR7, it's not sudden democracy. The game was still about feeding Ronaldo in the No. 9 position, and everyone else was around him.
Maybe adjusting that four-man front could add more unpredictability to the Portuguese offensive...
Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane were considered insufficient to start for the German team. However, they should be in crisis.
This time the German team was criticized for its apparent lack of quality, but there was still extraordinary talent in the team. Timmer Werner didn't play today. Niklas sule hasn't started yet. When Germany were a few goals ahead, Emre Can was a good option to reclaim possession. Jamal Musiara hasn't had a minute yet.
Although the likes of Miroslav Klose, Mesut Ozil, Marco Reus and Julian Draxler have all left the team, the German team's technical quality is still much higher than many other teams in this tournament. Considering that many of them grew up in the high-intensity pressure philosophy that dominated German football for many years, it's easy to see how they fit together.
There is clearly a problem on the Portuguese side. For all the stardust in this squad, they just haven't solidified yet.
William Carvalho and Danilo felt a little too conservative in the center of the park. Diogo Jota fit well on the left-hand side, but bruno Fernandes didn't seem to be so closely tied to the game. Bernardo just glanced at it.
Maybe the system needs to change. Initially, Danilo anchored on the other side with Bernardo and Renato Sanches, which will provide more dynamism in midfield. Bruno Fernandez could be in 10th place, while Jota or João Felix ran errands in the top two alongside Ronaldo. That's up to the manager - it doesn't work for Portugal...
Cristiano Ronaldo has won three consecutive Champions League titles under the guidance of midfield master Tony Kroos: he knows his abilities very well.
Kroos remains at the heart of what Germany does, drifting from 10th in 2014 to 8th in 2018. He is now more of a No. 6 player and Kimmich drifted in from right-wing defender and Ilkai to continue his excellent club form. So far, it's like clockwork to joachim low.
Germany has their defensive problems: they are also fighting for goals. But look at how they completely dominate the Central Zone today, other teams should be on the lookout. If De Klan Rice and Calvin Phillips meet Germany in the next round, they could chase the shadows. Italy's Jorginho, Barrera and Locatelli triumvirate can even be stretched.
Who meets Germany: prepare for a real battle to control the game. Or attack them at rest, as the French did. Germany surprised us in the big game? It shouldn't be the first time...
