Pigeon City Street is the first small road located on the east side of Gulou Square, south of the road, running north-south, during the Ming Dynasty, it was a poultry market for domestic pigeons.
The domestic pigeon was called the oriole pigeon in ancient times, so it was named Oriole Pigeon Market Street, which has been used to this day.
