Myoheungsan has been known as one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Korea since ancient times, including the vast areas of Xiangshan County and Stadium County in North Pyongan Province, Yeongwon County in South Pyongan Province, and Heecheon City in Cijiang Province.
Myoho Mountain is majestic, with its marvelous peaks and large rocks, deep gorges, cliffs, crystal clear water and many waterfalls in harmony with the lush woods, and the scenic spot is roughly divided into Xinxiang Mountain (Neixiang Mountain) and Waixiang Mountain.
The most beautiful scenic spot of Myohyang Mountain is the area around Xinxiang Mountain, where canyons and waterfalls such as the undulating hills of The Xiangshan River, strange rocks, and the famous gorge scenery of Shangyuan Cave, Wan waterfall Cave, Thousand States Cave, and Seven Star Cave are gathered. Representative are the Buddhist temple That represents the construction technology of the 11th century, Puxian Temple, the "Eighty Thousand Great Tibetan Classics" that shows the development of printing technology, the octagonal thirteen-story pagoda and the four-corner nine-story pagoda showing the medieval stone construction technology.

The area around MyoHung Mountain is rugged and windless, the climate is relatively mild, there are many kinds of plants from lowland to highland plants, and there are still primitive forests in various places.

In MyoHung Mountain, medicinal plant resources such as mountain ginseng, party ginseng, and epimedium are abundant, as well as wild fruits such as mountain grapes and kiwi fruit, and there are also many mushrooms such as pine mushrooms.
There are also more than 40 species of beasts and 198 species of birds, such as bears, antelopes, musk deer, badgers, and raccoons.
There are rainbow trout, ayu, true catfish, and pointed-headed mackerel in the Kayama River and other rivers.
Myohyangsan is one of the six most famous mountains in North Korea and was designated a World Biosphere Reserve in May 2009.
