After a census this year, 484,500 dead pine trees were newly discovered, and the epidemic areas in 3 districts and counties, including Laiwu District of Jinan City, were newly discovered. How is pine wood nematode disease transmitted? After the pine tree is infected with pine wood nematodes, the disease and insects multiply in the pine tree, the green pine needles quickly lose green, the color gradually turns yellow-green, yellow-brown, and finally becomes a striking reddish-brown, hanging branches do not fall, as a symptom after the fire, so pine wood nematode disease is also known as "non-smoke forest fire". For about 30 to 40 days, pine trees will die, and if left untreated, thousands of acres of pine forests will be destroyed in a short period of time.
The prevention and control of pine wood nematode disease is a worldwide problem, and the mechanism of its occurrence and development has not been thoroughly studied. Because most pine trees in Shandong Province grow in deep mountains, cleaning up a sick and dead pine tree requires at least 300 yuan, if not cleaned up in time, it will continue to infect the surrounding trees, so the pine wood nematode disease prevention and control is difficult and costly.
