On October 25, local time, UN Secretary-General António Guterres posted on social media condemning the coup d'état taking place in Sudan.
Guterres said all government officials, including Prime Minister Hamduk of Sudan's Transitional Government, must be released immediately to respect the difficult political transition.
Earlier, the U.N. Secretary-General's Special Representative for the Sudan, Pertez, issued a statement expressing "deep concern at reports of ongoing coups and attempts to undermine Sudan's political transition." The detention of the Prime Minister, government officials and politicians of the Transitional Government is unacceptable".
Pertez urged all parties to exercise the utmost restraint and that all parties must immediately resume dialogue and participate in the restoration of constitutional order in good faith. (CCTV reporter Xu Dezhi)
