dog days 是什麼意思？
英文詞典裡對“dog days”是這樣解釋的：
"dog days" refers to the hottest part of the summer, the hot period between early july and early september.（七月初至九月初，夏季最熱的部分）
the dog days的說法來自于天狼星（sirius），也叫“狗星（dog star）”。
古希臘古羅馬的星相學認為，如果觀測到天狼星伴随太陽升起，那麼随之而來的便是炎熱、悶熱的夏季了。
是以 dog days便指“夏季中最炎熱的日子”。
也就是我們中文裡所說的“三伏天”
