一、平台支援：

1、Personal Geodatabase：僅可在Windows 上運作；

2、File Geodatabase：跨平台支援，可在Windows 及UNIX、linux上運作。

評價：這是個非常大的亮點，使得資料可以更好的移植。

二、存儲方式：

1、Personal Geodatabase 是一個MS-Access 的mdb 資料庫文檔；

2、File Geodatabase 以一個檔案夾方式儲存。

評價：Personal Geodatabase有依托微軟的access資料庫的限制，File Geodatabase，可以慢慢擺脫依靠access的限制，不用受制與微軟的技術。

三、存儲限制：

1、Personal Geodatabase：相同于MS Accesss 限制，資料庫最大容量為2GB。

2、File Geodatabase：資料庫無限制，每個表限制為1TB(1000GB)。

評價：File Geodatabase支援對海量資料的處理。

四、儲存空間：

同樣的資料，在File Geodatabase 中比Personal Geodatabase 和Shapefile占用的硬碟空間更少，通常可以減少50%~70%，最多可減少到1/5。

五、效能：

File Geodatabase 相較于Personal Geodatabase 處理資料的速度可快20%到10倍，這部分随着資料量的增加，效能差異越大。

六、是否支援資料壓縮：

1、Personal Geodatabase：不支援資料壓縮。

2、File Geodatabase：支援一種新的資料壓縮格式，在查詢與顯示方面均與未壓縮格式相同，壓縮比率可從2:1 到25:1。
