writer與author
writer和author都指“作家，作者”，它們的用法差別如下。
writer意思是“作家”，其含義比較廣泛，一般指職業的或者是以寫作為主要業務的人。這些人用書面語言來表達思想，供人閱讀，尤其為别人閱讀而寫。這些人大多是小說作家、散文家、詩人，劇作家、編輯記者等等。比如：

author的意思是“作家，著作者”，一般泛指已有作品出版的寫作者，作品可能是一本書或者一篇文章。比如：Haruki Murakami is Japan's best-selling author.村上春樹是日本的暢銷書作家。Who is your favourite author? 你最喜歡哪位作家？
He is the author of three books on art.他寫了三本藝術專著。He is the best-selling author.他是暢銷書作家。Who's the author? 作者是誰？
author跟writer的不同在于不強調職業，而着重強調已經以自己的名字或者是筆名出版了書，發表了文章這一事實，而writer則強調職業性。比如：The author appeared on television to publicize her latest book.作者出現在電視上宣傳她的新書。
